[Montlhéry-1465] Burgundian Army Project
« on: May 16, 2023, 08:28:18 AM »
Hello, I'm back after a while with a project about a Burgundian army base for Dragon Rampant and extend it for Swordpoint or Warhammer.

The beginning was the reading of the Jean de Haynin Memories. He described the army of the Comte de Charollais (Future Charles the Bold) and the main banners and liveries. You can find some illustrations on this forum here : https://leadadventureforum.com/index.php?topic=132309.0.

My first step was to made some banners for my Army (avalaible on my Banners Blog : https://flagspennonsandbanners.blogspot.com/)

And now I'm Painting the units.

First one is the Antoine de Bourgogne Army

My next units from my Monthléry themed Battle.  it's the 'Archers de corps' of the count de Charollais - Future Charles the Bold.
From the Jean de Haynin memories.

Quote

I used as model the standard from the Freiburg Fahnenbuch.  :

So 12 more miniatures for my Army :

Great work! The choice of purple works really well for Charles' livery!

Thanks for the cheers !
I made a new unit for the  Ravenstein levee. I use the same banner type than for the Comte de Charollais.

New units : the Saint-Pol levee !

it's based on the first description on the Jean de haynin memories. For the Liege campaing, The standard and liveries had different descriptions.

Great work on the Saint-Pol retinue! I was never quite sure how to depict the "houppe" described in the Mémoires

Houppe is hold french For pompom. Houppe is often use in the period. I use a part of a Amedée and Yolande pennon on the Freiburg Fahnenbuch as example.
