Shadows over Centralis - any info?
« on: 18 May 2023, 09:19:52 PM »
So, I've seen this game pop up a few times. Seems like an absolute love project and the author is extremely connected. He had Ral Partha Europe and Lucid Eye make exclusive minis for it. He publishes swarms of interviews with some of the most important people in the industry. Tons of commissioned art. It looks like there should be loads of hype for this game, yet it looks extremely dead. The social media, even though updated constantly, has nearly zero engagement. I could not find a review or a battle report anywhere. Does anybody know more about this game? It's on its second edition now, it's just such an odd thing for something of this caliber to have absolutely zero hype or engagement.

The author seems so very enthusiastic (if a little clueless about promoting or social media). I'd buy it in a heartbeat... if there was a digital option.

Sadly, buying a physical book and having it delivered overseas with absolutely no idea of the rules themselves isn't an option. I love supporting indy games, I'll buy a pdf every other week knowing I'll skim through it and never play.

Oddly, I've downloaded every issue of the monthly magazine and still don't know anything about the rules themselves other than unit stats, really. Even just a QRS is usually enough to let me know if I'm interested or not.

Hello Maxromek and Dubbya, just noticed this thread and thought I'd say hello! I'm John Wombat, part of Wombat Wargames, and author of Shadows of Centralis. Shadows of Centralis is a tabletop wargame which can be played using models from any manufacturer, old or new, while the ruleset is centred around retro mechanics. As others may be interested to learn about SoC, I shall create a thread which offers a greater depth of detail. I would very much welcome further comments and feedback also, very happy to engage.

There's a video of John giving a flick through the rules at the bottom here;
