Raglan's Boxer Rebellion (Hollywood Style)

Sharp Practice Battle Report - Prisoner Escort. Forces of the 8 Nation Alliance are escorting a captured Boxer Leader to the provincial capital of Liang Shan Po. Having arrived by armoured train, the US Marines took point, whilst the British Navy followed-up in support.

The Boxer Forces begin to swarm onto the battlefield, the village funneling their movements. Japanese cavalry of the 8 Nations ride forward to scout out the Boxer positions and to provide a cavalry screen.

The Japanese Infantry were given the responsibility of guarding the captive and formed a column of march before exiting the railway station. Intercepting Boxer Forces were making good progress, aided by their fervour. By this time the US Marines were on the outskirts of village.

The Boxers were now in a good position to block the route to provincial capital. The Japanese cavalry had dismounted at this point and began firing at the Boxers from the cover of a small farm. Due to the speed of the Boxer's advance, the US Marines decided to hastily form a firing line.

The Japanese Infantry advanced slowly, as their capture was old and required carrying by his servants. Due to the fact the US Marines had got themselves into an isolated position, they were charged by a large mob of spear armed Boxers and driven off under the weight of numbers.

The small farmstead on the outskirts of the village was quickly becoming the “Alamo” of the 8 Nation Alliance. The Japanese attempted to form line to the left, whilst the British Naval Troops did the same on the right. Unfortunately US Marine Gatling Gun was very prone to jamming and missed several opportunities to shoot.

Boxer close combat units were now amassing for an assault, whilst the 8 Nation Alliance prepared themselves for the forthcoming attack.

The Boxer fire-armed troops formed a line and exchanged several rounds of fire with the Japanese Infantry, putting a great deal of shock on the prisoner escort detachment. The Boxers on the left were now in a great position to launch their “wild charge” .

Given the deteriorating situation for the 8 Nation Alliance, they decided to withdraw from the battlefield. The cruel Japanese Infantry did not hesitate to execute their prisoner & his servants. As a result, we called the game a draw, but the Boxers confidently held the position.

Sharp Practice Boxer Rebellion - Another Escort Duty with the local lad Matt Slade today. The 8 Nation Alliance got off to a roaring start with the Japanese driving down the left flank, whilst the American Marines probed the right. In response, the Boxers also surged forward.

Sharp Practice Boxer Rebellion - The Boxer Warlord in his enthusiasm to drive the foreigners off his sacred land, found himself isolated and subsequently charged by the Japanese Cavalry. In the ensuing melee, he was knocked out and his mob of Boxers was driven backwards.
