I think it's just the horrible inflation we've had, when they take their usual black friday discounts off in the stores it just brings the prices down to around what we expect the 'normal' price to be from a couple of years ago.

True! Plus, manufacturers in our hobby outside of the heavy hitters like GW operate on thin profit margins, which are even thinner since the hyperinflation of the past 2.5 years.
