The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen
« on: 12 November 2009, 09:13:02 PM »
Greetings all!

I just registred at this forum as I found it scrolling for PULP, VSF and the likes.  me and my group of gaming buddies at Tin Soldiers of Antwerp have just started this era of wargaming (we normally do spaceship games) after a little chat on our Crisis show last weekend (you might have seen me strolling around there, the TSA guy with the shirt full of scifi patches stitched on and an Enterprise cap on his head, taking all kinds of pictures that ended up on our club`s forum here: http://www.tsa.topforums.be/index.php?topic=4290.0)

Anyways, my first project was the League of Extraordinary Gentlemen, the movie version (I`m prolly one of few that actually likes the movie more then the comics), so here is my take on my first steps in this area...

Allan Quartermain and Wilhemina `Mina` Harker: their equivalents from the Ironclad Miniatures range

Tom Sawyer: is the model of Billy the Kid from the Black Scorpion range

Captain Nemo and Dorian Gray: both are models from the `Eccentrics` pack of the Artizan Designs Thrilling Tales range with a few very small conversions.  Nemo received an infantry sabre from Perry Miniatures acw troops, while Dorian had the sickle on the model replaced with a greenstuff and plasticard painting.

Skinner: modelling an invisible miniature was quite a challenge to get a good idea.  In the end I sculpted his overcoat from greenstuff and added some footsteps on his base

Jekyll / Hyde: the relevant models from the Chiltern range

Any comments are greatly appreciated!

Ciao

Obviously we're not going to be friends, but anyway those minis look great! I specially like Dorian and the invisible man.

Now let's see all those Crisis pictures :)

I hear psychiatrists can do wonders with dilutional patients these days. Have you considered Phenothiazine? ;)

Lovely work on the miniatures.

Cool. Like the variant on the old "Frodo wearing the One Ring" idea.  lol

(Would it be incredibly churlish and make of me a terrible pedantic knave if I apologetically point out that you have spelled Quatermain incorrectly on your base?)

In Sweden we spell it Kvartörmäjn. Is that wrong?

Um, I dunno. If Kvartör means quarter then I guess so. Beats me why you would want to "translate" a proper name anyhow. But anyway, just the one R in Quatermain.

As to the film: Couldn't stand it - pile of shit. Haven't read the comics, so can't speak of those. Prefer my Quatermain straight from the source...

I'm shitting you. That's what we call Swenglish, i.e. spelling English as it suits us. :)
Hardly anything is translated in Sweden these days, films have subtitles etc. Little kids learn to use profanities which would shrivel the wall paper had they been in an American middle class home. Since I'm a big fan of HBO, it is just a meter of time days fiver, son of hammers, age two and with his speech learning centre in high gear, utter his first f-word.

Aye, I noticed it when loading the pictures, it has been corrected in the meantime  :)
