Some 28mm Successors
« on: December 05, 2023, 04:29:57 PM »
Hey everyone, here are a few units of 28mm successors for no specific faction, that I've completed in the past few months, hope to post more in the future whilst working towards a completed army.

Starting with the Agema Phalangites, comprised mostly of veteran mercenaries from around the Mediterranean, all Aventine miniatures:

I always loved the head armor on that Warlord war elephant.

Nice work making all these units come alive!

Have to agree, there’s just something lovely about a block of pikemen bunched together- the skin tones in particular look fantastic :-*

Great painting, what made you choose polemarch rather than the Aventine Thureophoroi range ?

Superb paint jobs! Building up a great looking army. I wouldn’t bother with the pike connection tubes though, pretty much been discredited.

Thanks all, it's been a fun project.

Interesting, I was under the impression the connection tube debate was still up in the air and opted for a "rule of cool" approach, though it was a bit of pain painting all of those tubes  o_o

Thanks Mark, I really like the Polemarch and Foundry sculpts, these phalangites were the first Aventine miniatures I've painted, but I'll be ordering more in the future, I'll have to check out their Thureophoroi they have some other great ranges as well.

Really astounding work! All of them look amazing, but I especially love those phalangites.

Are you using the Gripping Beast transfers from LBMS? I noticed the Aventine website has those in stock and I figured it was because they match their models pretty well, but wanted to make sure.
