Has anyone bought this familiar space CREW?
« on: December 26, 2023, 05:35:08 AM »
I’m curious how close they really are to “25mm”, or if they could work next to 28mm figures, like some of the Stargrave plastic boxed sets sold these days

https://www.ebay.com/itm/164266630397?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=VsPRM9UESvS&sssrc=4429486&ssuid=gupOafYcTii&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY

Does anyone know how compatible (or not) they might be?

Thanks

Dan

They look like the old Sgt Mjr Minis figures. From memory  (and its not a great one) they are what I would class as 25/28mm - about the same size as the Foundy Copplestone Old west figures. They will be small, but not ridiculously so.

If they are Sgt Mjr Minis figures, they are very undersized. I bought them then immediately sold them because they were too small next to my other SF figs.

GF9 have a Firefly board game with miniatures of the crew, each member has two versions in the game to signify their status.

Reaper has one with Jayne in his knit cap but I don't remember the fig's name
They call him Turk

They also have another Mal

If you're going to buy from Battle Valor you might want to do it soon, he is going to close down for a short while, for business and sculpting new stuff.

They look pretty poor, unless it's just the photo's. Defnitely better options out there as already listed.

Guys

I went ahead and bit the bullet, and went and ordered the figures.  And what a pleasant surprise!

Size wise, they are NOT 25mm, as they are somehow listed.  They are really 28mm figures and they fit in perfectly with the Stargrave Crew plastic sets (I and II) plastic figures I bought recently.

Detail wise, it isn’t as sharp/deep as Reaper and other makes, which means they are also comparable to the shallower (some say “bland”) detail of the Stargrave plastic sets.

The faces could have been given a little more attention.  I might have to remedy that with a tiny amount of green stuff.

Actually, they are the same height as the 28mm Stargrave plastic minis.

Dan
PS.  I found another Reaper figure that could work as a Mal stand-in:
