We got back to our DA campaign this weekend and finished our 13 scenario campaign with five hunts in one sitting.

There were a few bumps along the way, but 'most' of the hunting party are ready to retire now...

Over the next few months, I will be releasing a few new monster types and scenarios for Devilry Afoot. Initially these will be put out as free individual pdfs through the Facebook Group, or folks requesting them via the blog, but once this cluster of foul devilry is completed, I'll compile them into a single (still free) digital document and put it in the download folder for Wargame Vault customers as well.

The monsters recieving this treatment mostly fall into stories stemming from the late 18th - early 19th centuries. This was a time of enlightenment and industry, but where superstition and conservative social values persisted on the edge of reason. And so, a new party of hunters was required!

These are all from the Matchlock Miniatures Regency Zombie Hunters range. This is my first experience purchasing from Matchlock Miniatures. They were pretty cheap, came quickly, and didn't require a lot of clean up, so that is all great. I'm not sure what to make of the sculpts though. I like them, but they have a very definate chunky aesthetic which not everyone will like.

Edge of Reason has my attention.  I am already fully invested in Napoleonics with less interest in shot and pike period, so it’s a lot easier to use my existing figures while adding yours.

There is a shortage of late 18th-19th century civilian female figs in Regency or First Empire garb, either armed or not , for RPG gamers in this genre. My wife (with a background in textile design and reenactment costumes) chafes at cheesecake that appeals to the lads and obvious anachronisms. I hope you will try to fill that void.

Thanks for the continued interest folks. Here's the first of the new monsters - the headless horseman.

The rules will come out shortly, once they's had at least some testing!

Call out the watch!

For the Devilry Afoot: Edge of Reason scenarios I needed some suitable late 18th - early 19th century watchmen or beadles to support (or to arrest) the hunters.

These chaps are from Trent Miniatures' 1798 United Irishmen range. If you haven't seen it, I'd recommend you have a look as there are loads of useful minis for armed civilians and other interesting characters.

I like the Trent figs a lot, the Vendean and Haitian figs also provide lorryloads of gothic horror possibilities.  I once ran a scenario with Haitians ( with zombi!) assisted by RN sailers ( Aubrey and Maturin) and Riflemen (Sharpe’s) to oust a French/Spanish island spy base run by aristo vampires.  Watch out for the crocs…

Now that sounds amazing!
