New Hobby Project - The Khotyn Campaign of 1621
« on: 12 January 2024, 07:51:47 AM »
My latest blog post introduces a new hobby project; the Khotyn campaign of 1621, pitting the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth against the mighty Ottoman Empire. To celebrate this new project I have a book to giveaway - comment for a chance to win. Details on the giveaway and project here:

Nice looking troops. I too am interested in the "Eastern Wars" , probably as a result of seeing the "Fire and Sword" miniatures at Salute several years ago. For Christmas I received several Helion books on the Swedish/Polish/Russian wars of the 1650s onwards but as I want to game the period in 10mm can't find quite the right figures. I might re-think my time periods and go back to the 1620s and look at Khotyn, plus I already have the Helion book by Michael on the Polish-Swedish war of 1629.  Pendraken produce both Poles and Ottomans in 10mm, plus troops who can serve as Swedes.

Oh dear, another project for 2024!

You guys keep painting and playing with those awesome models, I will make sure to provide some more historical ideas for your games. Plans until 2027 (three books): Warsaw 1656, Gniew (Mewe) 1626, Smoleńsk War 1632-1634.

That sounds interesting! I would also like to read about the civil war in Sweden 1598 and the battle of Stångebro from a Polish perspective ;)

I hope this goes well. I'll be very interested to see which figures you use for your Ottoman army.

That would be rather short book indeed: while there are quite a few primary sources available, descripton of both battles (Stegeborg and Stångebro/Linköping) is fairly scarce and can be done in two pages :)
