What (hobby-related project) are you doing over the holidays?
« on: December 18, 2008, 02:37:31 AM »
To me, the christmas holidays mean staying with the family (away from my hobby supplies) for a few weeks. I always get the painting/modelling itch, so this time I've planned a project that I can do without much supplies. I'm going to scratchbuild furniture pieces for my Broadsword Adventures palace board. Divans, stools, ornate tables, braziers, candlesticks, you name it. I'm preparing a small travel-friendly box with green stuff, card, felt, silk, jewellery beads and other little bits.

Actually I'm more eager to be building my labyrinth board, but that would mean carrying lots of foamboard around which, although lightweight, would take far too much space (especially once the pieces are built). In contrast furniture is an excellent "travel project".

Hopefully, I'll get cracking on a vehicle for Company B's little competition.

Well I be working over the Holiday for the most part but I actually have Christmas day off this year so that will be nice.  Hoping to have a job come the New Year with the bad economy and all, but we will see.

I try to finish painting my Combined Army models for Infinity and build a suburban modular gaming table.

An I wait to get a Nightmare delivered, so I can put it in front of my 2004 X-Mas-Sophie-Sled and take part in the LAF X-Mas competition. But It looks like I'll have to loot an already painted nightmare model if It doesn't get delivered till Saturday...

If I get chance, I'd like to make a proper start on my Black Hat Chinese, but chances are I won't even get near the loft for a couple of weeks.

I dunno, I'm trying to cut back on spending and finish off some existing projects (haven't even asked for lead for Crimbo!) but I probably won't see a brush until New Year.

And then I can spend January painting, and not spending because I have the Vapnartak show in York to go to on February 1st!  :D

Depends on the time really,

I think I will finish off my white russians and do some more of my chronopia elves they are good to paint.

or I will finish off some buildings and walls using a nice little mould someone sent me which I really want to give back  ;)

If Mrs Malamute allows...(and thats a big if!) then it will be finishing some VSF Prussians and making a start on some more Adobe houses for my Tex/Mex town.

As I don't put myself under any pressure with my painting - it's a hobby - I will be just prepping/priming and painting in my normal random fashion.  But I am working on some 5/6 figure groups in anticiaption of the next LPL  :)

Most of my stuff is packed up for an imminent move to Canada - but I have a team of Blood Bowl Dark Elves in my check-in bags, along with enough paints and brushes to do the colour scheme I've decided on.

Since I've met Mrs M I have a hard time believing you. She seemed to be such a classy lady.
