Very nice indeed. In the later 1700's to early 1800's the Spanish had unit of Hussars fighting the Comanche. They were equipped with an oval shield (painted in the royal coat of arms. I'm just curious as to weather or not these would on your radar?  ???
I'm not a mercenary. Killing's more of a hobby for me.

How many different Spanish figures are you intending to do?
Also, when will the Comanches be coming out?

Fantastic figures, PayPal is working again and I've placed an order.
Now I just need to find some good sources for painting them.

I could not find any way to attach a picture to this, so I've sent an email to your Gringo 40s address. It's just a pit I couldn't also find the Miniature Wargames article (over 20 years ago) that originally bought the Texas Hussars to my attention. As they only operated for a few years from 1804 I can understand if they don't fit into your projected range. Mind you I've had it pointed out to me that they'd be easy enough to make from Perrys plastics.

In addition to the black shield in the picture I sent I've also seen another period painting depicting a brown leather shield with the cot of arms in the centre.

Of course I'm still going to need your Comanches to bash them with  :D

Matakakea
many thanks for the illustration,,well received
most interesting...The trooper appears to be
astride a big cat skin..with spots! love the
early style Napoleonic uniform.the shields
caried by Cuera were normally five layers
of bull hide and plain,,the officers carried
the fancy-pants one with the cost of arms
of Spain..as this one has a coat of arms
against the black background  hes more
officer material...but the dolman has what
appers to be gilt lace..so pribably an officer
will try and post a picture...meeting up
with the Editor of Miniature Wargames
so will ask him for a copy of the article
you mention..regards Ged www.gringo40s.com
