28mm Gringo40s Gaan Dancer Apache ceremonial dance that is intended to protect the community from disease and enemies. Dancers became "the embodiment of the Mountain Spirits (the Gaan)"; they wear special masks and wands during the dance. The dance is performed by a group of five members, one of them a "clown", each having his specific role. Just received my first order of figures,( including both Gaan dancers),and they are absolutely superb.
Great detail, animation and poses.
The pictures of the painted figures will be an invaluable resource for me.

probably an officer due to the fancy work
on the high class leather Cuera..
the fannion is unusual and not mentioned
in the literature i have studied.but must have
exsisted...

and another
from the prolific Spanish
Artist Bueno...the variables
were many and varied...as
the troopers were poorly
paid..their NCOs took a cut
of their wages for "maintenance"
and sundries!! Hence jackets
and trousers..exact shade of the
Cuera varied. still they were
a stupendous looking unit..and
have fascinated me for years!

and according to the regulations
of 1772 there was to be a standardization
but this never happened as Apacheria
proved to be "not so productive" for
acquisition of new found wealth. unlike
the Mayans,Aztecs,and Incas down south
who were really sitting targets
