Hi Norm
Some of the old DBM  basing  was quite similar , the Heavy Inf of the Roman Republic was very tightly based .. always looked wrong to me ...
While I agree some Some Soldiers did fight Shoulder tp shoulder like Greek Hoplites , and Phalangites , a lot did not .
I have my Romans in 15/ 18mm from Battle Honours based on 40mm x 40mm bases with 5 figures on them , in a sort of Semi open order.
In DBM they would have had 10 figures on the base  :o :o.
They look so much better than 12mm ever could  ...  its just not a valid comparison for me .plus I cant even see them these days anyway .. lol lol

I guess the Positive is it will introduce some people into the Wonderful Period which is always good , just not me
Cheers.

After seeing the minis at salute I was rather tempted but the price is a bit rich for my blood. Certainly good value, don't get me wrong, but still a fair chunk of cash.

I just ordered A rather large 15mm Army from a vendor , after postage and painting cost .. it is quite the expense .. way more than I thought at first....
it was serious money ..lol
Cheers :o :o

I am pretty excited for these. I already have 28mm Punic wars, but I mean, who doesn't need more minis?

I will say, I like the models on Carthage's side more. I am not sure how I feel about the Roman infantry blocks.

I have not pulled the trigger on buying these yet, all my modeling stuff is put up and away, and likely will be for the next two years at this duty station, until I retire. But I am tempted!

I might order the Hannibal set before the end of the pre-order period.

I still like the models. The Punic ones more than the Romans. Bit now that pre-order is live, the price was a real downer for me.
€ 288.00 for the set?  :o I had hoped for considerably less.

I don't plan to buy this myself but looking at the website you do get a lot of figures for your 288 euros. I make it more than 2000 figures which is way cheaper than similar size metals. My big problem with it all is the size of the strip of figures which is too large for my uses.

Does any one have a measurement of say the Romans from feet to eyes? Just printed a ton of Romans for the punic wars from Cromety Forge, great figures and extensive range. It would be interesting to know how close they are to these?

They’re not kidding.

On the bright side, the basic box with the book and the core Punic and Roman armies to get you started is a mere $US 384…

I appreciate it when they make it easy for me to say No to a new project.

Wow! It‘s also something to make you think how crazy US$ and € are converted … €288,- is closer to $310.-

There are two £95 starter sets, making them a bit cheaper than the napoleonic starter sets.

there is a ton of stuff ready to add into this game on release day. For earlier Epic, the company relied more on phase 2 and phase 3 roll outs to cater for that kind of stuff.

I have just seen a couple of sprues on the MINIATURE REALMS YouTube channel and they do look very nice, crisp models (I have added a link below). he puts the elephant together and a roman infantry base - worth a look.

The way the 3 rank romans go together is both clever and a painters delight.

The up-front cost of producing all of these different frames must be eye watering, probably on Warlord Games and one other could manage such a release.

I hope it does well, it needs to, if we are to see other EPIC ancients released.

Usually big discounts on Warlord Games products once they are out in the wild. You will probably still get a good deal.

I keep going back and forth on this myself. On one hand I want a ton of these, on the other hand, maybe I should just keep doing 28mm punic wars to get bigger armies for bigger games. Hard choices.

Yeah, understandable. With me it’s now 15s, and for that money I could get a lot of high quality 15mm that would be more versatile.

Thank you for the heads up on the assembly video, it looks like the center ranks will definitely need painting before gluing.
If my wife asks, I only spent half as much as I wanted to...
