I was thinking about a possible show participation game for Warfare next year using some bunker complex boards that I built for a previous 1946 style game.

The idea would be to convert the boards into Victorian London's underworld complete with sewers, tunnels etc and as the goal for the players, the underground lair of Fu Manchu. I'd also build a surface board as a starting point, either a section of dockland or, more likely, a corner of Hyde Park.

Anyway, I need four pairs of characters. The obvious first choice would be Sherlock Holmes and Doctor Watson. I also thought of Richard Hannay (49 steps) and a supporting bod of some sort. I even considered the young Winston Churchill (I've got a figure that would do nicely). If I brought it forwards to the 20's there's Jeeves and Wooster, Poirot and Hastings, Biggles and Algie and Bulldog Drummond plus one.

Any other suggestions?

I'm not after fanatastic characters, just conventional sleuths and daring do types.

Some figure suggestions would be helpful too (Ironclad are the current favourites, especially the MIB...excellent figures!)

Cheers

Jim

Excellent idea. ;D

Other characters could be the League of Extraordinary Gentlemen - To match your existing Ironclad figures they already have Alan Quatermain and Mina Harker.
Ironclad have promised Capatin Nemo and the invisble man plus Jeykll and Hyde soon.
Inspector Lestrade and some detectives/London Bobbies - westwind figures.
Moriarty and henchmen.- Ironclad miniatures, Parroom Station miniatures.

Doctor Who and the Talons of Weng Chiang!

Thats what led me into VSF! The Doctor and Leela would be lots of fun.

I even considered the young Winston Churchill (I've got a figure that would do nicely).

Please share! Do you have a link?  I've always wanted a young Churchill! So many possibilities and uses.

And as for suggestions, Eureka's Flashman (ie: Shaftesbury) minis would make a great addition to the game, maybe paired up with one of the characters from his books. Maybe Speedicut? I'll also second the recommendation of Moriarty, perhaps with Tiger Jack Moran.

How about Sexton Blake ,Tinker and Pedro(If you can find a Bloodhound miniature?) and you'll probably need an opium den,It's almost manditory with an asian villian. :D
Scotland yard Detectives and Bobbies would be a must also(IMHO)Oh and it's 39 not 49 steps

This is sort of obvious, but you didn't mention Nayland Smith or Petrie
