1809 narrative campaign book
« on: 13 June 2024, 12:27:48 PM »
Hi!

Some of you might remember that three years ago I played a narrative Sharp Practice campaign called "Star of Bravery" with my mate Sigur Skwarl. For several reasons, this was one of the most successful campaigns I've ever played and one of my best gaming experiences: we played 10 games in less than four months, with an emerging narrative that was tremendous fun. the campaign was documented on my (https://wargamingraft.wordpress.com/?s=star+of+bravery) and Sigur's (http://tabletopstories.net/language/en/?s=star+of+bravery) blog, and at least for me, writing down the stories was part of the fun.

I've always planned to publish the campaign, but for some reasons, I never got around doing it. Until now! I finally did it!
Star of Bravery is available as a pdf of 42 pages on Wargamevault: https://www.wargamevault.com/product/484292/Star-of-Bravery-1809--Eagles-along-the-Danube?affiliate_id=2981366

It's a narrative campaign system that deals with character development and has no map movement. It can be played solo or with up to three players (theoretically, more would be possible, but the campaign would take exponentially longer). It features a unique event system akin to chose-your-own-adventure books. Although written for Sharp Practice, it can easily be adapted to other skirmish rules.

Thank you very much for sharing. I skim read through most of your Napoleonic posts and am very impressed with the level of attention that has been devoted.

I also greatly liked the hand drawn map.

Sharpe Practice in 15mm is a wonderful idea. I bet it saves on space, money, as well as time. I don't think I have seen figures in this scale singly based before.

Thanks for the kind words!

For me, 15mm is the perfect compromise: as you say, it saves on money, time and space, all three of which are in scant supply in my life  lol (although the space situation has improved since I started out). As I mainly play skirmishes, I also like having a lot of different terrain to provide variety - the storage of this in 28mm would be an utter nightmare! (It takes enough space in 15mm as it is...)

There are a couple of people who play SP in 15mm and more who play Chain of Command, which also uses singly based figures, in this size.
