Hello, everyone.
I have finally managed to get -working- cameras and painted miniatures into the same room for the first time in about two months, so I thought I would share these. They are long overdue.
These are the first four of our Shanghai Municipal Police at Black Army. They are painted in authentic historical colors. I recognize that the lumps of grey stuff on the site weren't exactly appealing, and I hope to replace all of the photos on the site (not just these) in the very near future. Unfortunately, server side issues at the moment (updating the site, but it isn't showing up in its 'new' incarnation as yet), so that's slowing things down.
Anyway, as to the miniatures:
These can be used for a variety of tasks, from about 1925 or so (when this model uniform was adopted) to 1943 (when the Japanese formally abolished the SMP). They are the centerpiece, and the main heroes (if you will) of my Shanghai, 1930 range. Unfortunately, they haven't gotten much attention, in comparison to the other figs we carry. Hopefully better photos will elicit more interest in them, and in their historical (and semi-historical) exploits. I'm frankly amazed, with all the talk of these guys are perfect for a pulp setting, that there has been so little interest! Assuming interest picks up, however, we do plan additional figs, with additional poses and weapons, constables on patrol, and the armored motorcycle used extensively by the SMP during the Interwar Period.
I plan to use this particular lot in a Strange Aeons project. They were very easy to paint, fortunately, and very enjoyable.
Constable with Pistol (in this case, the specially modified Colt .38 automatic issued to all Chinese constables, and some foreign constables, beginning in late 1929.)<28mm>

Constable blowing whistle (my favorite pose in the current group) <28mm>

Constable with longarm.<28mm>

Finally, the Sarge! <31mm>

On other fronts, Fu'Xian will be receiving some... unusual... troops of his own in the near future, currently being sculpted by Curtis Fell. Also, the first of our Japanese in M1930 uniforms, along with Kawashima Yoshiko (an historical character) and Colonel Washiji Toro (not so much) are being sculpted by Leandro Ventic, and should be along very soon for our "Foreign Entanglements" subrange within the Shanghai Line.
