Artizan Renaissance Range - Base Size?
« on: December 01, 2009, 12:07:29 PM »
Ordered the regiment.

There is always a chance that, once painted, they will go on Ebay - all depends on amount of available space at the time.  So, although I don't game myself will want them on game-legal bases.  I was thinking 20mm square. Opinions welcome.

I think 20mm square or multiples thereof too (40x20 with two or 60x20 with 3 figures). Warhammer historical players are probably your main catchment and this size is still useable for many other rules sets as well.

I agree with what Svennn says...
A CANADIAN local hobby store with a small selection of historical wargames miniatures (mainly from Warlords). They also have a great selection of paint and hobby accessories from Vallejo, Army painter, AK Interactive, Green Stuff World and more.; https://www.kingdomtitans.ca/us/

Thanks    :)

Do Renaissance gamers "accept" GW-style square bases, or should I invest in some of those plywood ones?  (I have some MDF - don't like it.  And some plastic non-GW - but they seem a bit thin to me.)

So long as you're not in a hurry to see them... ;)

I agree with what Svennn says...

Yes, 20x20mm sounds good. I'd suggest individual bases, then if anyone fancied 25x25mm etc they could easily stick the existing bases on thin metal sheet and re-texture the edges to match yours.

Like the Cap'n, I'm looking forward to seeing what you do with them.

I personally prefer thinner bases (from 0.8mm to 2mm) but everyone as a different opinion on this… Maybe you could look at gallery on the WAB forum to see what seem to be the most popular style?

I'd second that, plus individually based allows for skirmish games etc.
