Ripper Swarm Alternatives
« on: 05 February 2025, 06:56:09 PM »
I'm not a GW gamer.
But what I am after are some Tyranid 'ripper swarm' models. They don't seem to sell them separately, which is disappointing.
What I need are 30 individual models (my intention is to base then 2 models per base making 15 bases in total).
Again, I'm not a GW gamer and I don't want them for 40K.
So, my question is, can anyone recommend a similar looking model?
That is, a small alienesque 'hatchling' thing that would stylistically go well with GW tyranid genestealers (which I am using as a generic alien rather than as an actual GW tyranid).
I'm sure you get the idea.
Cheers for all suggestions.

Dare I say, do a search on Etsy probably lots of not-rippers on there. :D

Have a look on eBay - I picked up a bunch for my Epic scaled Tyranids, both on sprue and already based (which were easy to pull apart).

And as Storm Wolf says there will be Etsy options and STLs out there - trying to find the right search words might be the tricky bit.

What's Etsy and STL?

I should also say that I am looking for the 28mm verisons.

Also worth a look in Alternative Armies 15mm Asgard range are the "Large Sadistic Demons."

They definitely have a genestealerish vibe to them. I use them with my 20mm sci-fi stuff. They are big enough to be largish beasties in 20mm scale.

I think we have a winner with Alternative Armies. Some good options there.
It helps that a while ago I was looking at a couple of bits on AA but not really enough to warrant an order, but this definitely pushes it over the edge.
Thanks, all - much appreciated.

Etsy is a shopping site, like a boutique Ebay without the bidding aspect (although I can't remember the last time I bid on something).

STLs are the files used for 3D printing.

I second using the Pendraken Giant Worms - I mixed them into my Ripper Swarms quite nicely. They also make great Necromunda Milliasaurs!

Roughly how big are they?

How'd they look against 15mm minis?
