My kinsman at the Battle of the Pyrenees!
« on: 11 February 2025, 09:48:24 AM »
I knew that five members of the Pringle clan fell at Flodden in 1513. Until this week, I didn't know about another illustrious fighting Pringle (presumably a distant relative) who served under Wellington 300 years later. I had the privilege of taking General William Pringle's part in a game of the Battle of the Pyrenees (1813). This was a very different game from the usual Napoleonics line-out. Sounds like a great game, aside from the Satanic dice. Fortress looks fine.
And the glorious general led the advance
With a glorious swish of his sword and his lance
And a glorious clank of his tin-plated pants. - Dr. Seuss

I'd like to think I greeted the Satanic dice with the same equanimity and fortitude my namesake would have shown.
