Italian garde units - which fronts?
« on: February 19, 2025, 11:32:37 AM »
As the title suggests - where were these units deployed? Russia? Spain? I really like the look and I just picked up a box of Perry French to paint as Italian Royal Guard - especially Grenadiers.

Thanks in advance

The Italian Guard were deployed to Russia as part of the Grande Armee.  I have all the Italians in 15mm for the Russian Campaign

Alright - I've settled on 6 reggimento fanteria di linea during the Peninsular War - but I'm confused when it comes to headgear regarding fusiliers:
When was the bicorne used and when was the shako used? I'm a newbie when it comes to Napoleonic stuff so please bear with me.  ;)

Thanks in advance!

Shako was issued in 1807 but the bicorn seems to have been popular & hard wearing & individual soldiers seem to have hung on to them till 1809-10, maybe longer in Spain.
Good luck with this; Ive got Italians in 6 & 15mm & Im constantly tempted to do what you?re doing in 28 as well

Italian (Istrian) Rifles are a fun unit to deploy, i spring them on the Peninsula even though they didn?t get there.  Shocks the British Rifles player?
