Yea that’s exactly the look I am talking about.

I would be interested, but I have no idea how soon I will get around to ordering those troopers themselves, so it guess it would be smarter to start bothering you once I get around to that.

I keep thinking these would actually look quite striking with Westwind pickelhaube gas mask heads. As far as weapons go they're decent- I like the bullpup assault rifle and the other two more traditional looking guns. The weapon that seems to double back under the shooter's hand doesn't do it for me and the flame thrower and grenade launcher just look daft with their grips on top. IIRC there were a few crazier suggestions on the WF forum and I'm glad they didn't go with them in the end.

Some painted examples of Shock Troopers.  They look very nice.  Looking forward to putting together a unit or two of them.

Brown Black Color Scheme.  I like the look of the Armor, not sure if the 'coats' match up all that well.

They've got some more single pics of the Troopers on their site in various styles.

Believe me - I already have 5-6 colour schemes in mind... These will be numerous on my games table for many purposes.

The unfortunate thing for me is that the combination of armour on the upper body and the greatcoat makes it look like they are wearing dresses.

Doesn't really work for me. They look too girly. Okay if you want them to be Futuristic Greek Evzones or something, I suppose.

I agree

I fear that is always the problem if you combine greatcoats with body armour. I've seen some vonversions that look the same. I guess this is the reason why FW used the french greatcoat style.
In this case, it is also the sculpt - the cloth looks very thin and has too many folds for a greatcoat. that's why they look skirted.
Hmm, someone makes WWII fezzes on extra heads - this could be an idea.

Maybe it also depends on the paint scheme. But I don't finf this all too problematic. What really pisses me off is the unalterted coalsuttle.  It is like they have "evil totalitarian empire" stamped on their asses. Hard to use them for anything else unless the armour is diguised with camouflage. But they surely make splendid alternative SW stormtroopers.

The great coats look bloody awful, all flouncy, flouncy*.I may buy some just to give them floral print dresses, err maybe not.

  * Mrs Greywolf would know the correct term, however she's not here, she is probably watching a RomCom with a mate.

Yea, that Zoidberg head looks the least evil of them all, so that’s saying something. The more flat faceplates would give them a more bumbling fools look if you wanted to use them as some sort of slightly silly soldiers in a sci-fi rpg or something. Making the heroes look more heroic and all that.

The bug eyed heads without the helmets are the worst in my opinion, I really need to see those painted to get any idea of what I’m supposed to be looking at.

Tracking down enough spare GW heads shouldn’t a problem tough, I suppose. If you wanted a more human and non evil empire looking version of these guys.

I think that sentence is almost an oxymoron.....  :)
