Christy Brom?

Has anyone heard any sort of update regarding Christy Brom?  It seems like it’s gotten very quiet.

I ve read a lot, on TMP,  about what happened and about all the the rest concerning the disappearance of TSATF rules .
I also understand that there is group of gamers, based in USA, that knows everything about that game system and are in contact and also friends with that lady ..
So just an idea : why they do not launch à kickstarter campaign  on her behalf with maybe a title such as “TSATF rides again”? If it ll work they can just  give all the money earned to C Brom, send the copies (rules, amendments , T Shirts ecc) possibly including virtual  ones (PDF) so as to reach potential buyers from outside US, to those who successfully supported the pledges and then, in view of that practical feedback, ask her “so what do you want to do now”?

There was/is a Go Fund Me for Christy that raised about $2500.00.  No idea if that money ever got to Christy. The situation now seems very mysterious.  No one is giving us any updates.

I suspect the only way TSATF rules get resurrected is if Christy relinquishes the ownership of the rules - a promise she and her late sister made to their father, the author, on his death bed to not do.  I hope she has a last will and testament that at least leaves the rules to someone willing to keep them going - for those passionate about the rules.  But I also suspect that passionate group already have what they wish and the market is too small to make it a worthwhile venture financially.  Perhaps a grim reality to some but I suspect such is the case.

And, as others stated, the rules have been superseded by other options now.

Pretty soon a passionate believer will come along to decry this - and I ask that person to provide hard data, not wishful thinking, on why the TSATF market is big enough for someone to throw money at it.

And if Christy passes on without a designated new owner, the rules will disappear into the realm of pirated rules.

The way rules work, someone who couldn’t give a crap about the “legacy of the Broms” and the drama that it apparently entails, will just come up with a “similar but just different enough” version of the rules. And the Broms will fade into some kind of random obscurity, to be less remembered than, say, Dave Arneson from D&D fame.

Sad, but probably prophetic.

I would disagree with Larry Brom fading into obscurity, his rules can pretty much be credited with creating Colonial Miniatures gaming.  I suspect he shall rise into the pantheon of the creators side of the hobby.  But the company and the rules themselves, harder to know.

Sure, maybe Larry will be remembered - but as “the father of colonial gaming”? Yeah, probably not. So many others in that space.

Sadly, another victim of American lack of healthcare.

If someone takes over the rules they can put them on Wargames Vault for pdf sales or Lulu.com for a printed version.

This thread feels like it’s become very negative, which is unfortunate. The game has brought enjoyment for many for a very long time.

I hope the remaining family members are able to bring the game to some form of online print company like Wargames Vault so others can enjoy it.
