Tap's Pulp
« on: 11 June 2025, 11:16:00 AM »
Have decided that I want to do some Pulp and Cthulhu games this year, probably using my homebrew ruleset with Zona Alfa style points of interest added.

As most of my gaming is solo I'm at liberty to fart around with stuff until the rules I have tell the story in a way I like. I have much of the background fluff sorted and will post that once complete.

I've also tried to change my painting style to something more fitting to the subject - more cartoony, actually attempting (badly)
painting eyes, brighter colours and using little or no wash.

Here's the makings of my first warband: Snowy and Tintin, Daisy Deakin, Charlie Chan and Miss Marple.

They look good and using Zona Alfa is good idea, too. I like the rules (I have the book) but have yet to try them out. Please share with us how it goes.

In general I'm not a big fan of cartoonish painting but in this case I think it works perfect.  One of the best elements, for me, of pulp gaming is that it is absolutely not meant to be taken seriously.  Fun first through twenty-first and beyond!  Hey, maybe that should be the pulp slogan!!  Why, a slogan for 'infinity'.  Ah, shucks, I'm a genius - well, in someone's mind.   ;) :D lol

Bob Murch Pulp Figures, she's one of the 'Student Investigators'.

I named her after an Enid Blyton character.

I look forward to seeing what you do with this. I have to admit I came to TT gaming through Pulp and stayed there... As FifteensAway said above, I like the way it isn't supposed to be taken too seriously...

Thank you.

Daisy, Tintin and Snowy are in trouble as they exit the church whist Charlie Chan is in similar straits at the rear.

Carnivorous plants are my current little weird obsession which fits in with my new pulp stuff I think, details on how I made them here (bottom of page 15):

Tap, I missed these on your other thread.  Absolutely spot on work.

Cool, nothing spices up a boring weekend like meeting the Killer Gladioli right after the Sunday mass.

Well, the name “gladiolus” is derived from “gladius”… maybe these ones take after their namesakes and are excellent in close combat.

Very productive hobby week including some pulp stuff.

Kitbashed two large carnivorous plants from bits from the bits box cut off other stuff, wooden bead, leaves from a plastic plant, glue, bicarbonate of soda and greenstuff.

Also got a couple of Copplestone figures painted, seen here being attacked by the Giant Carnivorous Plants.
