I was wondering the same thing.  Where can I get a Gort miniature?

Also...The foamcore you are using.  Is this the stuff that's about 1/4" thick with foam sandwiched between plastic-like layers?  I'd like to try your techniques.

The plastic layered material, while excellent, is harder to cut, no?

We are pretty close to each other.  I won't be able to make the Siege as I have work commitments.  Didn't Augusta used to have the Warfair as well?

Doomsdave, that Gort is a M 11 robot out of the new Hero Clix set. I think he has 20 of them now. When I ask what he’s going to do with so many he just laughs like a crazy person.

Peabody has it right. The foamcore has thin sheets of paper cardboard on the outside. It isn’t plastic.

former user, this is how the buildings get their last layer effect. I took these pictures while dad was finishing the last two buildings tonight.

The before picture is the building after the staining is done.

Next, Dad puts on a layer of whitewash that has been thinned out a little with water. Just stroke it on and don’t leave bare spots. This takes him like 10 seconds.

This is after dad brushed on the white paint. You can see the white paint pulling apart.

This is about 15 and 30 seconds after the last picture. You can see the paint keeps pulling away even more.


Now this is about where the separation stops. You can see all the bare and white areas in the picture. Dad did dab a little paint on in a couple places but mostly he just left it alone and let the paint do its work.

Dad says there is a rule about not using water paints over an oil because this is the weird thing it does. But it works for this.

It's curtains for you!...

This is the same building Wolf Girl showed a few days ago. Now its been weathered just a little more, and I've added the windows and doors.

Just when Wolf Girl thought she was finished making curtains for me, I got the crazy idea to make a curtained entrance on the second floor...







I'll still add a few random pots and barrels, but this one is going in the 'done' stack!
