10mm characters and more troopers
« on: December 25, 2009, 02:35:04 AM »
I discovered the ruleset "Fast and Dirty".  I think it'll work.

Then I accidentally painted 32 more stands of troopers and a character stand.

...Yes, accidentally.

...this sort of thing happens to me every so often.

Figures by Reaper Miniatures, and would be 10mm if they were standing up:

I changed out Cpt. Teknar's gun for something larger, and I sculpted Jenny's head, hair, and dress. 10mm is harder to sculpt than it looks, especially when one's glasses are out of date.

Captain Craig "Snipe" Teknar is an old soldier who's seen too many friends die for nothing gained, and for some reason keeps finding himself playing knight in non-reflective polarized armor, even though he's officially retired at least three times.

Jenny Sinclair was found on the battlefield after a particularly violent clash. Something she saw snapped the part of her brain that allowed her to speak. Cpt. Teknar is the one who cared for her during her recovery, and she refuses to be parted from him ever since.

I've done 28mm versions of these characters before, but I wanted to try to render them in 10mm.

And the 32 new stands of figures:
You, sir, are not allowed to attempt a takeover of the solar system until your octopus sobers up.

What's with the wires sticking out of the bases? Or did I miss something in the text?
Everything is better with lizardmen.

That's so I can put colored beads on them to mark out what's part of which squad.

ok, then maybe I'm missing something, why are the bases different colours?

The bases are different colors by the role of the figure.  I anticipate playing in dim light, and was trying to build in as many cues as possible that would allow me to differentiate figures with my poor colorblind eyes.

ahhh, now that makes perfect sense! BTW I like the story behind the two characters - it reminds of a story line from one of the Sharpe novels where a girl falls in love with Harper for more or less the same reasons IIRC (I forgot to say that in the first post)
