Alpha Forge Games
« on: December 31, 2009, 01:18:44 PM »
Has anyone in the UK ordered from Alpha Forge? Couldn't see any shipping info on their site (admittedly only a quick scan through), and was hoping someone had had some good experiences with them.

They have a couple of nice vehicles that I might be interested in getting if the p&p charges are reasonable enough. Or failing that, any UK stockists?

Anyone?  ???  :)

I ordered from them regularly in the early days and their service was good. I haven't tried the new owners though.
Caliver used to have their stuff over here I think.

Oooh, ta. I'll have a look on Caliver's site.  :)

EDIT:

Hmmm. Not any more they don't. But it just so happens that Battlefield Berlin carry the one I'm particularly after. Result.  :D

Ok, Bob, admittedly I'm not in the UK at the moment, BUT, it might be helpful to know that I recently ordered from them (as in the last three weeks). During a terrible season here for postal times, Alpha Forge not only promptly processed my order but had it to me within a week, which is no small feat at all considering that some of the items I posted within California are STILL making their way to other parties in state.

The miniatures themselves are generally very nice. Relatively flash free - any flash that there is is very easy to clear off. My only complaint, and this is a minor one, is that there are many pieces for some of the models, and no instructions. Has been a lot of trial and error, and for some reason, the metal they use seems to be that kind that you get every blue moon wherein the stuff won't stick together without a healthy dose of accelerator...

That said, once they do get together, they're awfully nice pieces. Definitely worth the investment, I think.

So thumbs up from me, for what it's worth.

-Doc

I'd shoot Jay an e-mail for a shipping quote.

http://oldglory15s.com/catalog/contact_us.php

He also owns Old Glory 15's I think, so you can contact him there.

Well, if anybody was intrerested in hearing about my experiences with Alpha Forge before trying an order of their own, I have now completed my order.

I emailed them first to ask about shipping, got a prompt and informative reply, and decided to order my goodies.

Got them from accross the world in a week.

They had sent the wrong thing though.

Truth be told, it was a simple mistake as the bag it was in was mislabeled as the item I had ordered. Emailed them to explain what had happened and offered to return the incorrect item, but was told (again very promptly) not to worry, they would send the correct item and I could keep the mistake free of charge.

Next day I was emailed to say the item had been sent, and today it turned up. Just under three weeks turn around, including the resending of the missing item. I've had slower service from UK companies and the items themselves are abolutely lovely, and very cleanly cast.

Excellent service, I really cannot complain at all. All correspondance answered quickly and correctly, good communication about shipping and well, I can't say anything bad about a company that deals with its minor cock ups in such a pleasant manner for the customer.

Alpha Forge Games - you are officially on the "Good Guys" list!  :)

 lol

Ah, go on then...

I originally ordered a "Gorgon" recon fighter to use as a scout/air support for my Stargate Jaffa army. Its really nice and just the right shape for a small Goa'uld craft.

The one I got by accident was the Hydrissian jet bike thing, the "Dart-wing" or something. Don't know what I'm gonna do with it yet, but its a lovely model.

I've got the gorgon assembled, but I haven't painted it yet....waiting for inspiration to strike!

I agree, those Dartwings are awesome....
