african tables
« on: 02 February 2010, 11:14:26 AM »
Here are some shots of 2 african tables just waiting for natives and explorers.
It is supposed to be jungle land scape, but in fact you can't really make a jungle table because of the "canope" so it is more like a 60's hollywood setting for Tarzan…

East African inspiration

West or central Africa

have a nice day

Ohh really nice. I wanted to use terracotta red colour to base my miniatures with but never really found a colour I was happy with. What colour did you use for the East Africa board? It's pretty much the colour ranges I was think about doing for a small board I am thinking about doing.

I use an a primer for pastel, it is super strong and very mat. It must be highlited by ocre or similar colour.
This product is made in australia.

Art spectrum - fine tooth - pastel primer
colour : Terra cotta.

Neat.

My 2'x2' Monster Island "Mars", and "Tattooine" (for Star Wars RPG)  board has the same tone.

Great looking damaged buildings.  Scratchuilt?  Kinda has the La Haye Saint feel to it.

I must admit Mars was one of the reasons I was interested in this colour scheme . Thanks for the info. Rereading my earlier post I must remember not to post comments from my phone!

Yes, the conventionnal 6"X4" (the dining table).  ;)

Surely you folks are right it is a bit red… so I will add ocre this week end to soften a little the tone. But still in east Africa the land can be really red, never wear white shoes…
some pictures

Wow thats absolutely terrific black bear!

Did you use canvas for the tanzania table? If so did you put down some type of gesso/primer??
