The Osprey says (for Infantry): dark green winter-uniform (trousers, shirts, caps) usually worn under greatcoat. I the summertime dark green trousers and caps with white shirts. The  white shirts were usually dyed khaki when worn in the field. They had white  cloth covers for the caps, also dyed khaki.
Hope that helps

There are a few shots of my 15mm RJW here:

http://picasaweb.google.com/whisperin.al/RussoJapaneseWar#

Mostly Old Glory figures, with a few extras from Peter Pig.

I've painted some Russians units in all green, some with white shirts/caps and some with khaki shirts/caps, to help differentiate the units. The artillery crews are all in white shirts/caps, based on a comment I read somewhere that they did not die them.

Similarly my Japanese are in a mixture of blue and khaki uniforms, again to help differentiate the units.

Thanx for sharing. I've allready started to paint russians. Actually there are only 2 figures from my previous Irregular Miniatures order. Irregulars have good russo-japanese war russians, but they are only in standing pose. So I think of uning Old Glory for my main russian force and use these 2 Irregular Figures as bodyguards or whatether. By the way can you tell me what size are 15mm Old Glory Russians? I know that this question may sound funny, but 15mm figures from different manufacturers may have 2mm difference in size.

By the way does Old Glory and Irregular only manufacturers of 15mm Russo-Japanese War (The problem with Old Glory is that they sell their infantry in 50 figures bag, but I dont need sow many figures :) )

Yes the Russian uniforms for the Asian & far east Siberian campaigns were dark green tunics with dark green pants. The over coats would have been dark green or dark grey. Summer uniforms The tunic was white with the shoulder boards & collar being the color for the branch of service. Line, rifles, Artillery. Most of the pictures here appear to be Cossaks & not regulars. They did not very much from the uniforms from the Boxer rebellion, so you could use that for your resourses too.

Though at the moment I cannot find any un-based ones to measure properly, I'd say the Old Glory figures are pretty much 15mm foot to eye, 17mm foot to top of head. I mix a few a few Peter Pig WWI/RCW figures in with them and though the sculpting style is very different, height wise they seem to match OK.

The large Old Glory bags are indeed a bit of a pain and, somewhere, I have tons that I have not finished painting, but the figures do look good en masse. My only real complaint is that of course the Russian figures have no bayonets!

Funny, Rank and File came up in our Crimean discussion just today, after me not even thinking about them for over ten years. But anyway, Rank & File, available from Old Glory 15s:

http://oldglory15s.com/catalog/index.php?cPath=483_485_501&sort=3a

Unfortunately you have to buy them in bags of a million at a time.

(That is probably an exaggeration, if not exactly an outright lie.)
