I don’t really like this kind of superheroes (or supervilains) figures but your painting style is excellent!  :-*

Nice work!

1) Agree that we have to obey the law of the forum orgins whether we agree or not (and my ancestory would have got me in big trouble in WW2 German controlled territory.)

2)  "...I don’t really like this kind of superheroes (or supervilains) figures..." - well, pretty hard to do Supers or WWW2 E. T. O. or M. T. O. without the Nazis.  Possible (Italians or other Eastern European fascists come to mind) but most people would expect Hitler's tools/goons to be present in most cases.  Would Japanese Supers from WW2 or WWW2 Japanese cause the same heartache?  Not a troll, just wondering...  One friends' father (Philippino American) from growing up always seemed uncomfortable when we played P. T. O. games but why only became clear after he died and we discovered he was in the Bataan Death March.  Some "scars" are impossible to understand completely unless you were there, I am sure.  Kind of like the little old confused people who were concentation camp survivors I helped take care of back when I was in nursing who slipped into "camp memory mode" at times.   :'(

3) I really dislike playing East Front WW2 because of the personal issues (Shall I play Evil 1 or Evil 2 side?) but I just try and ignore the political overtones the few times I have played miniature games in those settings.  I still find it odd that it affects me in some way but it does.

4) Now since work has consistently blocked imagery from this web site  ??? I guess I will have to go home to see the miniatures...   :o

Gracias,

Glenn

I think Calimero isn't too fond of the "cartooney" superhero approach rather than the theme (which goes for me as well - my favourite "Superhero Movie" is 1966's "Batman", and this explains a lot). I cannot get into all this "spandex superhero stuff" either but I'll happily agree that the painting skill displayed is excellent. :)

I like how you pulled the "team theme" through. The shield is a bit OTT for my taste, but then again, I guess that's what you'd expect in a US comic book (JUST out of stylistic convention, mind you - it's not a qualitative comment!). lol

I love the rich colours and 'feel' of these mini- your bold colour choise has really captured the bright imagary of the 'Golden age' of super heros (and villains) . Your choise of figures is great too. I am very familiar with tehse minis, and I have painted some of them myself for my four colour campaign, but I can see that the clearly suit the Golden age too.

Keep up the good work, and welcome aboard- will we see an allied super team any time soon?

Beautiful reds.  Your figures don't look like "villians".  Rather, they look like "heroes" from a German WWII propoganda poster.

What is teh secret of your red? What paints did you use? Mine either end up looking dull and brown or patch and inconsistant. Do tell.

Thanks everyone for the nice words!

Rob here is my recipe for my red.
1. Prime Black
2. basecoat with GW red gore
3. Paint (except in the cracks) with GW Blood red
4.  Highlight with GW blazing Orange
5.  extreme highlight with GW fiery orange.  They dont make it anymore but you  could add some yellow to the orange to make this highlight.

Hope it works for you :)

great painting once again - even if censored ;)
and as for mysterious mr H on the shield - I think it would be enough to blurr only his moustache to make it totally unrecognizable ;D

Very, very nice. The Rules are what they are but I feel we may have come down a little too hard on you for this single transgression, what with everyone running up to correct your ways. I hope you don't feel unwelcome :)

LOL, after getting home and viewing these, I can say that I will not look at some of my figures in quite the same light ever again.  Very creative.

Gracias,

Glenn
