Red Star is of course a great inspiration!

@red orc: Your post reminds me of Heinleins 'the moon is a harsh mistress', though I always got the impression that he never realized that it was pure communism he wrote about!

sounds like a good idea to me - the orks have always seemed the ideal "martians" to me and I've used my warlord chinese as imperial guard in 40K. Then again what if that siberian meteor was actualy an ork landing ship crash landing?
I think my Orks are a bit BoB anyway since Notlob the mek built them an armoured train!

Ah vT, Tunguska, of course. I think you have just given me an excellent scenario idea.
They will not force us,
They will stop degrading us,
They will not control us,
We will be victorious!!

Tunguska - that's the one! Name slipped my mind there!

Let us know what you do with the idea.

Personally I'm keen on a wholly new genre. Back of Beyonce, in space or otherwise

Dunno about this BoB stuff, but Beyoncé fits into a WWII gaming setting perfectly. She actually had her own B-17 during the war.

Unfortunately there was an outbreak of "creative differences" while on a mission leading to LaTavia, LeToya and Farrah being kicked out of the bomb bay doors while over Wilhelmshaven; leaving just Beyoncé, Kelly and Michelle to get the damaged plane back to East Anglia. After that Beyoncé went solo, and flew Mustangs.

In a parallel universe where everything covered in Modern Mechanix in the 1930s was a dazzling success expansion into the solar system would be one of the least surprising developments of the 20th century!

Here are just a few articles regarding ambitious Soviet engineering projects. If everything here had come off then a sci-fi Back of Beyond setting with clashes on the outskirts of human space, using weird experimental weapons alongside good old fashioned 1930s firearms, would be easy to imagine.

I was perhaps a trifle flippant with my previous post, but really I was positing the idea that Mars with perhaps the Asteroid Belt is Russia - let's say, mining colonies and heavy engineering, mixed with peasants farming the thin Martian soil; other states could be 'mapped' onto the moons of Jupiter and Saturn, Venus, etc. Earth could still be divided but perhaps into a couple of 'blocs'.

Let's say that the Asteroid Belt would then represent Central Asia - and area of competition between the crumbling/resurgent power of Imperial/revolutionary Mars, and the other 'Great Powers' in the Solar System.

It would probably have quite a Pulpy feel to it (it all seems quite Flash Gordon at the moment), but could plausibly enough be the result of the extension of the VSF alternative universe (John Carter, Liftwood, Cavourite and Aetheric technology) into the the 1920s... perhaps even with a Weird World War One thrown in (as that seems to be today's hot topic).

Very musically rich the US Eighth Army Airforce.  Leaving aside the  Tommy Dorsey and aforementioned Destiny's Child, who can forget the famous B-17 Memphis Belle and Sebastian, one of the very few 8th AAF planes to fly out of Glasgow.

Ah mate, I'd be a fool to say yes. But then again, it sounds like a cracking idea. I'll try knotting together all the bits to create a semi coherent timeline and then...

Maybe next year, unless the 'Trouble in Ruritania' (AKA 'Return to Zenda') campaign kicks off, in which case it might be a bit longer. Damn you Jimbibbly, you've got me thinking now (which is always a dangerous enterprise)!

Seconded, her Back is quite as interesting as her Front.  :-*
