Another set of closeups: LPL S4R4
« on: March 22, 2010, 04:50:26 PM »
These are supposed to represent the nobs of the Valley of Smut, the imaginary home of my particular clan off troublesome Wazirs.

The Amir of Smut, Azlan Iznogoud...

...Amanoolah Khan, the Willi Valley Wali, and Shere Khan, both Wazir Chieftains; Boltok the Rapist, Mohmand mercenary...

...Mag'louf the Uzbek; Mullah Ali Djurza, ‘ The Wicked Faquir of Pip’; Berk Pasha, Turkish advisor

The Peacock gate, the main entrance  to the hereto unnamed main fort of Smut Valley. The walls are made of 5mm cork board and a local brand light concrete. The gate, which is supposed to look like a beaten bronze image of a peacock spreading its tail , is made from instructions at HirstArt. It didn't turn out to my satisfaction, you can hardly see what it is, so I will redo it eventually.

Thanks for the close-ups Peder, beautiful as usual!

Did you scratchbuilt the Azlan Isnogoud?

Michael, it's a RAFM Figur, but I see Peder has added turbans to the bearers, actually the guys are bald.

The legend around the hem says, in Arabic,: "If you can read this you are standing too close and I will kick you." I had to import Saudi ants especially to achieve this.

Seriously, it won't look good close up. The trick is to make it look believable at the appropriate distance which is about 30-50 cms. The beauty of Arabic is that to us who can't read it looks just looks like swirly patterns and that is not impossible to do with a fine brush.
