Thanks chaps - think I've said it before but I'm really enjoying not painting Orcs (no offense to the green ones!) for a change. Lots of scope for being a bit more colourful and mucking around with freehand stuff, even if  I did go a little mad with the stripes!

Raided the display cabinet the other day and realised I have quite a little band of Norsemen so might have to see if I can get a bigger group shot in between painting madly for round 10 in the LPL...

Lovely stuff, Thatsants!
 :-*

Those Berserkers have some lovely outfits.
Missed the last bunch of pictures of the Slann, too.
My apologies for telling you how wonderful they are earlier.
The Cold One is sublime!

This is lining up to be a thing of beauty, Mr T! I find myself jealous of both your figure collection and your time. Instead, I now paint and collect vicariously through yourself and other 80's die hards!
Regards,
Gaj

No worries Mason I'll take any pleasantries aimed vaguely in my direction!  :D

Thanks Weazil - I wonder if the wife will feel better about my ebay bills if I let her know others are getting the benefit as well?  ;)

Right, tonight is ladies night and. courtesy of LPL season 6, may I present to you the Amazons of Lustria performing - Death by Snu-Snu!

As I drag myself into the 10th weary round of the LPL I am left feeling somewhat akin to Futurama's premier Starship captain and lounge-lizard, Zap Brannigan, after his own bruising encounter with giant Amazons...

Quote
We need rest. The spirit is willing, but the flesh is spongy and bruised.

Anyway back to Lustria and Return of  the Magnificent Sven, or Magnificent Sven Rides Again - not sure which title to go with yet.

The Amazons are going to be another major faction in the scenario, along with Sven and his Norse adventurers and Gurg'll Greenwake and the Slann renegades who survived the siege of Vastervik. I'll be using elements and possibly (depending on my architechtural and building skills  :o) floorplans from the Rigg's Shrine scenario from the second Citadel Compendium to seamlessly weave the Amazons into the storyline I have planned for Sven and his plucky band...

Anyway here's the pics -

Koka Kalim - religious zealots and fanatical worshippers of Rigg, Amazon Goddess of War. The narcotic Koka is an important part of their religious observances and they are constantly within its grip. Deprived of normal. Deprived of normal sensory functions they can overcome great pain and have little aversion to blood, slaughter or death. Their state of mind meks them very edgy, unpredictable, irrational and strung out. They make ideal fanatic warriors.

Koka Kalim with Bolt Pistol (High technology inherited from the Old Slann and carefully preserved for use by the elite of the Amazon Sisterhood)

Amazon Noblewoman -

and Bodyguard

and your average Josephine - an Amazon Tribeswoman

Great stuff. For me this is the heyday of miniatures. I have a bunch of the Amazons bought when they first came out.....only ever painted one and that was in oils at the time...sold it for beer money back then. From what I remember it was a really nice PJ as well  :'(

I don't doubt it - hope the beer was good too!  :D

This is all a bit before my time and as odd as borrowed nostalgia is I'm enjoying it - even gone as far as tracking down an old copy of the second Citadel Compendium - reasoning being that if I'm going to game it i don't want to be referring back to a computer screen to look it up online mid dice roll.  ::)

Funnily enough, I decided today that I was going to restart my Amazons project that stalled in about 1987.

Seeing the paint jobs you've done on yours however has convinced me instead I should hide them away and never let them see how lovely their sisters can look with a fantastic paintjob, instead of the botched, ineffective blobbings and sloshings that mine have!

Really wonderful, I can only hope that my efforts eventually look a quater as good as these.

Oh no - please go ahead! I was shocked with how few painted examples I could find online - ie. none!  :o

We need to do it for the sisters... erm, brother...  ;D

I really like these miniatures and your paintjobs look great.  :D

I also got quite a laugh from the Snu-Snu reference.

Ooh, more please. This is great - looking at miniatures I used to dream about getting, but the pocket money wouldn't always stretch. I just loved that Lustria setting.

Been busy writing up some of my ideas as scenario guides - painting time has been somewhat curtailed by post LPL fatigue (now worn off thankfully) and keeping an eye on my latest acquisition...

Anyway please forgive me for posting a load of links to my blog but its a bit of a faff copying it over and slotting the pics back in and time is a bit of a premium at the mo...

By way of apology please accept this Slann - the only thing I've got painted since the LPL!

As Mr Saturday (of Fimir fame - http://leadadventureforum.com/index.php?topic=32275.105) kindly donated him to the cause I thought I'd paint him up by way of tribute to his excellent bog warriors
