Hey Try Kings of War from Mantic Games.
Its free and easily adaptable to anything, so u get the feel of writing your own without the hassle of inventing a rules mechanic.
They are quick, easy, & fun. I think they fit into what you are looking for in a game

Sorry I'm such a turd about this. These tiny little fellas are dear to me, as this is a favored period. I written and published rules before. Maybe this is another case where I do it myself.

Man after my own heart.  Nothing more helpful than that I'm afraid.  Last played the period twenty years ago. Still love it. However it was Tercio rules, from an age when you needed Maths degree to play rulesets.
