Oi! Spaceman!
« on: May 09, 2010, 07:50:41 PM »
Donna Noble...

converted from the KissKissBangBang not-Pussy Galore from Artizan... helpful assistance from Andrew Rae on the hair... with the base figure I could have gone for the Partners In Crime pinstripe or the Sontaran Strategem outfit... I figured the pinstripe would be a bit much with the Doctor in it as well so it had to be the other one...

bit of a mixed bag on this one I reckon... not 100% happy with my g/s'ing (noticed little niggles when I was painting her) and I spent far too long doing and redoing her trousers (didn't help that the reference pics had been doctored and had the trousers either grey or beige) before I figured that would do... all in all, I like what I've done, but could be so much better - may start from scratch at some point, the base figure is fine, I just need to get better with the g/s...

oh need to varnish and so on...

Nothing in the photos suggests any fault in the GS, AEG.  Very nicely done, but perhaps it doesn't look thick-headed and belligerent enough to be Donna!

I spent ages filing her cheeks down so the cheekbones stood out and her face looked longer as well  :-[

The shape of the face works - perhaps she needs smaller, closer-set eyes?  But, hell, it's a terrific piece of conversion, whatever.

Edit: I should perhaps add that I detested the character, so my opinion may be unduly sour.

Excellent conversion, EG. Have you done minis for Rose or Martha?

Great stuff.

And Donna has been the best companion so far of the new series, much better than the horrific Rose or the forgettable Martha.

bit of a mixed bag on this one I reckon... not 100% happy

From the photos there doesnt seem to be anything that I can see wrong with the sculpting work (but like most things, when you do it yourself, the problems tends to be all that you can see).

The shot of Donna standing next to the Doctor leaves it in no doubt whatsoever who the miniature represents.  Presumably, Donna wont be taking to the field alone any time soon so I reckon that your golden.

Top notch painting as ever too :)

That's really grand! If you're really not happy with it, I can offer a good home!  ;)

If I was to make one comment, I think that her fringe is a bit too severe - I think it should sweep down into the rest of her hair a bit more - but this is really just a very minor point. The trousers are fab.

But really, I love it! For my money, the best new-Who companion to date, and a gorgeous companion.

Can we have Wilf next please?  :D

the hair was several attempts and on the earlier ones it did move more gradually down to the hair... but I was happy with that one and stuck with it...
