Barbary Pirates or similar
« on: May 31, 2010, 04:54:29 PM »
Continuing my Moslem-VSF theme, I wonder how much adventure / war goes on with the Barbary Pirates (or similar Moslem pirates) during this period?

Technically, the Barbary Pirates are suppressed with the French conquest of Algiers in 1830, which is a little before the beginning of HRM Vicky's reign, but I have to imagine that similar stuff was going on elsewhere in the Moslem world, such as Indonesia.  Certainly the Somali pirates carry on this tradition even to the present day.

Barbary Sky Pirates perhaps? It could be a cool concept. The resulting Nef would be interesting. Perhaps some Mage Knight Dragonfly riders?

Campaigns against slavers in Africa were on going and then there's Brookes going after the Borneo pirates.

Definitely a colorful character, as was Captain Jack Ward, the English Barbary Pirate, though he was a bit too early for VSF.
