Got the missus to pick me up a set today, I will paint them up totally I-Dalek of course, not too bad, but then it's the concept of the new ones that I can't stand. Bring back the last incarnation I say!

At the risk of incurring the wrath of Who fan-dom, I actually don't mind the new Daleks.   ::)

They're not the best Daleks ever but they're fine. My main beef with the Victory of the Daleks story was that there was just too much to fit into 45 minutes - it was bursting with ideas, but just horribly compressed. I reckon that next season we won't even notice the different design...

Anyway, I just picked up a couple of sets of these. Better than expected, and Auton has shown they're much improved with a little paint. £4.40 for 10 Daleks - can't say fairer than that!

I bought 5 as well (I wanted to jump on the band wagon ;) )...to be honest, I'm really not that pleased with them myself.  They have really big bodies and not very big heads and they look bottom heavy :( .  I suppose these will get painted the same as the last lot of comic-freebies (they'll end up as security robots).  I suppose that the minis are good if you like the new shape though (only one of mine was mis-aligned).

Definitely worth the £2-20 I paid for the mag.

...I just thought...Davros x5 with Grymn torsos?

So after failing to find them in Cambridge I checked my local Tescos and lo and behold - tons of the buggers. I figure 10 daleks should be enough to have a pretty decent game using them (and if needs be I have a shedload of slightly older ones I could bulk the force out with).

Pretty impressed with them and if your struggling to find them, check out your local Tescos.

I just picked up a mag for Ancientsociety and ended up buying another one for myself.

The shame.

I was hoping to be the first to get a set of these painted and on the forum. One of our kids has a subscription to the mag, and this is probabbly the first frre gift worth stealing - did anybody see the cybermen last year? Shocking!
I didn't have any issue with miss-alignment. All the figures were really good and paint up fine. Only reason they're not finished was a lack of orange paint and going blind from painting Dalek "bumps". I'll post up soon with a finished set and comparison pics with the Harlequin/Black Tree daleks.

So I had vowed not to bother with these, but then I saw auton's paintjob...  We were shopping in the village Co-op yesterday morning and I happened to see three copies of the mag and what do you know, they all slipped into the shopping basket  ;D

Didn't think they were too bad - lacking in detail, and a bit of flash, but they cleaned up easily.  In fact, all mine were misaligned, but with a new blade in the craft knife I popped them open, cleaned up the flash and had them back together again within an hour.  They seem to be styrene, so plastic cement works fine on them.

Two were missing eye stalks - Space Marine bolter scopes did the job nicely.

And only two big gashes in my fingertips, which isn't too bad for me...  :'(

Fifteen figures for £6.60 - can't complain.

Of course, that's on top of 20 Micro-Universe Daleks, and 12 of the M&S keychain minis from a few years back  :D

Here's my "free" Daleks so far. Still to do the highlights and bumps on the blue Dalek and finish off the bases and some final tidying (why do my figures always look okay until i take a photo!?!). Although these look bigger than the 28mm Daleks I have they look better when mounted on 2p coins rather than a slotta base. They are supposed to be a lot bigger anyway...

Hey not bad!

Who'd have thought some orange plastic daleks would have sparked off a 5 page thread!  lol

I've got visions of kids dragged along for the weekly shop, looking forward to the compensation prize of the Dr Who Adventures, only to be disappointed because grown men all over the UK are buying up fluorescent orange daleks in lots of 2 and 3, and to add insult to injury sending them off to our colonial brothers too!

It's only sad when we start fighting them in the playground for the daleks  :o

Besides, I now have a stack of DWA magazines - the kids are welcome to them  :D
