Thanks Helen, those weren't the ones I was thinking of but the last one gives an approximation of the later scheme. I've seen another site which shows the same colours but in more of a banded style ( ie pre 1937), same site had colour schemes of the modified Vickers in Australian service (one still exists at Puckapunyal). Sadly the bookmark  went west along with the old hard drive.

That's interesting about your father in law Erik, he must have some interesting stories from his days with the ALN. As an alternate history I suppose anything is possible but historically speaking Soviet support was highly unlikely.

An incipient threat to the Italian colonies in Libya from the French and vice versa was something both sides contemplated. That diminished somewhat in the lead up to the crisis over Ethiopia but it wasn't something that could be dismissed. French forces for the period are of course quite colourful in terms of composition and equipment. Good opportunity to use a D1 medium tank, of which IIRC there was a battalion's worth in Algeria.
