 lol

You have made the best of a bad lot. Great painting, They are not their best sculpts, but also not their worst. ;)

Actually some of the mounted chiefs are very nice and blend in well with the Foundry Plains Indians.

I can not find them as bad as that, plus they fill the lack of foundry.
those I am trying to paint Old Glory are known by the name of "Sauks and Fox" when in reality it is rather "Kit Fox Society"

We have a saying in English: "You can't make a silk purse out of a pig's ear"

Well, you've made those OG pigs' ears into lovely silk purses!

It goes to show a good painter can get the best from even a poor model  ;)

yes but a good painter should not exaggerate ... but I appreciate the compliment. the thing with Old Glory that he should not think that it's Old Glory, and then add their details they did not particularly choose the best carved  lol lol

Lovely work on these! My knowledge drops sharply after @1815, are these meant to be 1830-40s era?

war paint for the dark, I got it by diluting it heavily and passing several layers on a flesh color. I took the photo to retouch a few flaws and frankly the more I painted, the more I think to buy more

tell the truth, I always based on the period to paint my favorite because it's my Indian. though the manufacturers themselves, choose between "Little Big Horn" and the outfits have changed a lot not to mention the colors and patterns of embroidery. the only manufacturer to my knowledge, approaching the period 1830/1850 is conquest, the only worry is that it mixes the two periods, but it is not very annoying

Your attention to detail remains as sharp as ever, D.  The free-hand painted skull on the shield is very, very good!  8)
