I must say, a rule set that doesn't require you to join a Yahoo! group or other site to download. Impressive!

No offense, Soulman; well worth the effort, but back before I had a Yahoo! ID, I hated it.

That said, I'm having trouble finding the darn group, either from the blog OR on a Yahoo! search. You'd think they'd do a better job of making it findable on their own site. *shrug*

Could someone post a link? Thanks!

Doug

Will you be adding the following -
Traits- for types of unit or heroes
Air attacks

Hi Soulman,

I'm not quite sure what you mean by 'traits'?  There are force supplements either available, or being prepared for a wide range of genres and settings. Each has a few setting/genre specific rules/weapons/etc. Could one elucidate further?

We haven't included Air Attacks at this time as the focus of this game is on small unit actions of between 15 and 50 figures per side, hardly the level that might attract support from the air.

However, we never say never. If you have some ideas for air attacks we'd be happy to mull them over and if they, or a version of them is published, you would be credited with them.

Cheers,
Craig.

From the feedback you had, is there a "magic" number of figures that works better? Is 50 figures per side slow things down or does it work just fine?

Thanks! I was a trifle concerned when it said uk.yahoo.groups, but I still showed logged on, had my request received, and now waiting, not TOO impatiently, to be accepted, I hope. ;->=

Hi Calimero,

The speed of the game really depends on the number of units rather than figures, because each unit will have a chance of activating and then acting in a turn.

We have played two games of the SG1 variant in a good evening with 4-5 squads per side. The games took about 2 hours and a couple of dozen turns in each. On another evening we had three players each with 2-3 squads and again we got in a couple of two hour games quite easily.

Note that the game is quite bloody and by the halfway point you will have a lot less figures and squads to worry about :), so the turns speed up.

C'raig f'thagn....   ;D

I have to take a closer look at this, time permitting.... my hobby life is all but frozen atm, as I have moved most of my hobby stuff to the new house - but we finally move the upcoming weekend - then it depends on the phone company, how soon I get my web connection up...

Gaming is so much better when the rules are kept simple.

I signed up to the Yahoo site and, wow, I am staggered at the pace that these rules are evolving.  :-*  Get in on this guys.  8)

Yup, 2nd edition came out a couple of weeks ago and whole bunch of guys, many from here, have playtested them and suggested improvements :D

Now we are on draft 2.6 and powering towards 3rd edition.

In addition we are taking two approaches to converting 40K. One is a detailed one page supplement per codex. The other is a rough and ready and much less detailed approach. Already we have a two page supplement that covers Imperial Guard, Space Marines, The Inquisition (including Battlesisters and Grey Knights), Chaos Space Marines, Orks and Tau small unit forces, including vehicles. There is discussion about Necron going on as I speak.

A draft points system has been mooted, against my better judgement as I actually like unbalanced games with a story behind them. But people wanted points so we have a points system. The FUBAR 40K supplement has been used as a tryout and it seems to work.

The Yahoo Group is up to 200 members with perhaps a dozen getting their hands dirty. In the last two weeks we have had 1500 hits & FUBAR downloads on the blog.

We seemed to be cooking with promethium at the moment  lol

Cheers,
Craig.

I followed Joroas' lead and joined yesterday too.

Very impressive list of games and a wealth of gaming material. Looking forward to trying the space ship rules too.

Great stuff  :D
