Please don't arrange to have me locked in no asylum...
« on: 08 September 2010, 04:01:11 PM »
As the song says: I'm just as sane as anyone...well, perhaps not! Cold-ass, rainy, bleak weather has hit the prairies and I begin to have dreams of an ominous sanitorium...I must build it! it consumes me!...so, I guess that'll be the winter project this year. Since I've got an early start I'll try and make it super crazy.

The concept: 5 part sanitorium: front gates, interior walls all fit together but can be removed or used as stand alone pieces.  This will fit 'into' the board which will have a secret sub-floor, labs, torture chamber ect, hopefully frightfully lit up with l.e.d.s. I wanna have broken glass on the floors, blown up cells, spilled poo buckets, creepy scrawlings, bloody hand prints...reception desk... ;D

May also do up some extra pieces...hedge maze, walkway...so I could do the grounds as well.  :)

Fairly ambitious project I know...but I just may be crazy enough to get the job done! Infact I think I'll go and start hacking at some foam right now... o_o

..ok it seems that you have lost it for good!  o_o

and that sounds wonderful!  lol. That idea of yours is awesome. I wish all the best in your project. I hope that I'll have some spare time also to construct something sinister for my games.

Sounds awesome.

Don't worry about the weather - they call that "summer" on this side of the pond :~}

Looks to me you have had inside info on this place all along, you never did say were the idea came from for the game Strange Aeon, I  thought it was some thing you made up in your mind.
My GOD I have been reading the rambles of a mad man this last year, God help us if any of it is true.

A torture chamber? …in an asylum? I think you mean a treatment chamber ;)

I’ve spend sometime lurking working in the basement of several hospitals and you might be surprise to see how creepy some of these "modern" hospitals might be… lol
A CANADIAN local hobby store with a small selection of historical wargames miniatures (mainly from Warlords). They also have a great selection of paint and hobby accessories from Vallejo, Army painter, AK Interactive, Green Stuff World and more.; https://tistaminis.com/

Have you seen the BBC drama series "Being Human" ?

That has some scenes in a hospital....

Just got the basics hacked away. Looks good so far. Front entrance with reception desk, 8 cells, central guard chamber, upper level...even made up some nasty looking matresses. Now onto all the wall ends and cell doors and the like. Lots and lots left to do before it looks like the asylum in my mind...will try and get up a couple 'in progress' shots at some point next week.

Eventually I will need brick-a-brack (tables, chairs, buckets...)for the detailing. I will get some of the great Pardulon stuff naturally. But, is there any other stuff out there?

http://www.frontlinewargaming.co.uk/

the 25mm range includes things like Frankenstein's laboratory or Dr Jekyll's lab. but also the Wild West range includes things like hotel & bank furniture, and the 3 musketeers range includes library shelves.

I got some of the Wild West sets, but aside from being rather smelly resin, the casting quality is so bad (air bubbles and flash everywhere) that they are almost unusable.

I am sure we can help you out  ;)

I have to give a vote for some of the Pardulon bits, it is beautiful and their stall is always my first stop at Antwerp.

Cool i can't wait to see this build up..

I so want to get the time to build a nice Manor house for my board.  I have a paper one but would prefer a more solid structure.
