Interesting. I thought this would be a flat wall piece, but this is much more ambitious.

Rob

Once I had joined the 3 pieces together and started thinking about how to fill the void in I thought
I was being over ambitious for about 2 hours  lol

I've been a painter and builder of wargaming stuff for years, have done the odd kitbash and conversion
here and there but have always promised myself one day I'll try sculpting.

I'm trying to get the Giger influence out of my head and try something else with the texturing but again the feedback here and on Frothers has been fantastic and is really helping to push me along - much appreciated  8)

Nice work I must say! BUT I personally liked alot more when they were just single wall icons :). Though I might still have use of a "living icon" heh.. I hope you do more of those wall pieces and get them sold somewhere

I'll be going for some more single wall icons I just needed to get this idea out of my head and into 3d as it's been in there
for ages waiting to escape!!

I've contacted one of the casters on Frothers and asked if the living icon is suitable to cast, are the bits and bobs ok etc etc
and will hopefully get a reply and some pointers on things to change. I've also been pointed in the direction of a Shoggoth to try and sculpt a figure but I'm enjoying scenery at the moment and will likely be back with more soon! There is a lot of strangeness in my brain when it comes to ideas, I just need to learn how to nail them down ;D

The feedback to my first pieces has been great for me and I am absolutely determined to get more done.  :)

hehe  :)

It's best for all of us that you just keep getting those ideas out from your head or you will eventually lose your sanity....

keep up the good work!

lol I'm sure I spotted my sanity scuttling around under the sofa the other day  ;)

A lot of the sculptors I've chatted with on the large scale model making forums all said it's
quite theraputic sculpting what you want - I have to say it's nice to just go with the flow!

In terms of the look and feel of the Cthulhu monsters/dark gods etc is there a website with art
that is largely "that's it" as far as the community goes? Whenever I Google for anything there is
a wide variety of looks for all the characters........ I'm not wanting to copy a bit of art, just get
into the vibe of what most consider the "best look" as I'm getting a bit Giger-ish and don't want to get
stuck in that look and feel - nice as it is there are plenty doing it already 8)

I've always liked the body suits made for the Guyver live action films with textured plates sitting over
a sort of sinew-like muscle frame........ it all goes into the melting pot!!

I hated the movies, but Screaming Mad George was always good for something disturbing.

Yep, they were total cheese and ham on the acting front but the textures on the suits and bio-weapons
always fascinated me to wonder how it was done, a lot easier to study that now with the advent of the internet,
fan sites etc  :)

I've got the next 4 icon bases started, these will be just seperates and not put together for a 3d effect.  8)
