Just a thought you could always go into the 16th century for a bit of Swashbuckling ruffs and tights for the Maltese :) there muust be more opportunities in rennaisance figures

Ruffs and tights? I think I can manage without :)
Might be worth a look at some conquistador figures though.

For supporting troops I'm going with Pontifical Zouaves, having just discovered their existence!
So many projects..... so little time.......

A mechanical falcon probably wouldn't be that hard  ;)

It might make a nice alternative to a pistol, but depending on the level of tech your thinking of it might be more of a self stabilizing rocket then a sentient machine. Still, it would make quite a inspiring weapon.

I don't want to be seen as hijacking the initial posts, but I thought that this post from my Blog, which details the construction of some Aeronef Knights of St. John might be new to some posters and add a little variation to the 28mm postings.

The Blog entry says it all so I'm not going to add any more now. See;

I keep meaning to get some more Turkish Nefs finished, but 'other' project keep getting in the way!

I stumble into VSF land and find you discussing Wars of The Roses figures!

Inconceivable!  ;)

No worries Tony. When I first thought of the idea I popped off to your blog to see if you'd done anything bigger and because I might do a Nef for them.

Perhaps but with your extensive knowledge you should be able to contribute :D

I was thinking once about a troop looking like that:

Pics are taken from a game called "Rise of Nations", I think.

Oh, and Dewbakuk, what about Zombie Cowboys ;)

Rise of Legends actualy :) It was the follow up game, used the same engine but with a much better setting and troop balance.

I've actualy stolen a couple of things from that game, particularly some of the building concepts and I'd like to make a few of the big mechanical guys.

Zombie cowboys... yeah... Westwind goodies in a pile on my desk... BLAM excuse passed... erm... where's my camera?

Did you not fancy Menoth as an Inquisistion Army, Dewbakuk? I seem to recall we discussed it for the Atlantis campaign back in the Spring - I think that's what persuaded ushistoryprof to play Menoth as Spain v Khador as Russia in the campaign.

Not really. Part of the problem is I have a big Menoth army already that I don't want to convert to fit and any Menoth figures I get will fit in that army rather than my VSF stuff. The other thing is I don't want these guys to be an over the top zealot force, they're themed to fit in with a VSF force I've just started working on and are mostly there in an 'advisory' role.

I did consider some of the Menoth knights though with arm and head swaps but the angled armour would make the piston augmentation etc awkward.

I was about to post these guys but then scrolled down, I think they make very good VSF candidates and have a hankering after them myself :D

I know I am an AA freak, but these aren't actually as rough as you might think. They are beautiful sculpts by Bob Olley.

AA actually do a bits pack, with just the backpacks somewhere, if that's what you're after.

Dew, what of the Cygnar line? I think the Sword Knights or the Long Gunners would work well. The Rifleman form the IKRPG line would work real well. :-)

As stated earlier  ::) Cygnar was the first range I looked at. I haven't totally discounted the Sword Knights but I'm wanting to avoid tabards etc.

Ah ha, as i was typing my above response i was thinking to myself did he already mention Cygnar. It was too obvious. I went back real quick to look and missed the earlier comment.

OK though Sword Knights are out. What of the other stuff? What about the Long Gunners? Or the IKRPG Rifleman i mentioned? :-)

Nothing to add old chap but a cracking idea for a project! It's a good job I've spent all my florins on tripods or I'd be tempted.
Don't!
