PMI (Pardon My Ignorance) but, Caps??

A measure of wealth/value?  Artifacts?  I get the reference but the rules are unknown to me.

Gracias,

Glenn

I pinched Caps (bottle caps) from the Fallout universe. They use them as currency. Nuke Ren 2 doesn't have any trade currency (although Nuclear Renaissance 1 one uses gold Nuggets for trade). Its just a convenient way for trade other than good old bartering. Besides I though the tile was snappier then "a fist full of bartering items!"  lol

Aah!  Makes sense.

I thought, "Bottle caps?  Nah, too obvious..."

Silly me.

Gracias,

Glenn

Actually, he does mean bottle caps.  In Fallout bottle caps are money.  If you open a bootle of Nuka Cola to heal yourself, you also get a cap to add to your funds.

Nice report, looks a cool game.

I always prefered Fallout 2 with the doing away with caps in favour of NCR dollars. Why they use bottle caps in Fallout 3 is a little odd and an unanswered question, though the reasons for it in New Vegas is clever (the BoS blew up the NCR's gold).

Anyhow back on topic, how easy is NR to play with?

The NCR never got as far as the Capital Wasteland. They are in California, after all, and Fallout 3 is set all the way over on the opposite coast. No reason why NCR dollars would have caught on over there. Nobody from the NCR is there.

New Vegas has both bottle caps and NCR dollars in the game, though the main currency is caps. You can sell NCR dollars or trade them in for casino chips, though.

Yes I know all that, what Im trying to say (rather badly) is why would caps be the main form of currency all the way over in the capital wasteland? Why not another form of currency? FNV also has the Legions currency as well. Bah!

The best I can figure is that unlike on the west coast, the folks in the capital waste land are still not organized enough to put some thing to gather like a common currency. There communities are still tribal or settlement orientated. Now with the water being purified and starting to be freely distributed they can start making less eradiated food, so more time can be spent on other things such as diplomacy and trade and setting down a value for a common currency.

The west coast and the NCR has moved be hound substance farming about 50 years perversely (if I am getting my time line right) and is alot better organized then any of the factions on the East Coast aside from the enclave and BOS that is, but thats my take on it.

I realize that.   ;)  It was my comment that I dismissed the "too obvious" correct answer.   :o  Again, Silly me for missing the obvious truth.   lol

Glenn
