LPL5 non entry 2
« on: March 24, 2011, 01:21:43 PM »
My non entry for the last time, after that, I keep the figures for next season.

But as I'm painting an entire french army of the FWI. There's more stuff until the season 6.

These are Blue Moon miniatures, but next one will be Conquest and/or Galloping Major.

Fantastic, great brushwork mate!  I'm trying to find some Marines to tide me over until GallopingMajor makes them.  These guys will be strong contenders for sure.

I thought Blue Moon was 15mm?  Do they make 28mm as well?

What he said.  :D

Proportionally, they look like they'd work with Conquest but if I remember right Blue Moon 28s are usually a tad taller.

They look great. Your paint scheme really brings the figures alive.

WOW! A very good paintjob and fantastic bases.  :-* :-*

But I don’t like the muskets, they are not very accurate and they have a very basic look.

Thanks to all for your kind comments  :)

Don't remember  :(
I'll take a macro picture this w/e, I think it's easy to make by yourself.

I thought Blue Moon was 15mm?  Do they make 28mm as well?

Yes, now they have fun range sush as FWI, Gothic Horror, Three Musketeers ...
My LPL3r9 was BlueMoon too: http://leadadventureforum.com/index.php?topic=11763.0

Proportionally, they look like they'd work with Conquest but if I remember right Blue Moon 28s are usually a tad taller.

Not very important if there are not mixed in the same unit, in my opinion.

But I don’t like the muskets, they are not very accurate and they have a very basic look.
"not very accurate" my nightmare. I find all my mini mot accurate, I didn't find any solution  :'(
Especially when I saw the minis painted by the Prof or Captain Blood

One can only go so far in the quest for accuracy before going mad, MAD I say! o_o

I'm one of the few around here who cares, but nobody has griped about such things in the local miniatures games I've played over the last decade.  I like to try to be accurate when dealing with War of Spanish Succession and the Seven Years War, but it doesn't help that so many regiments changed their uniforms during those wars.  Sometimes it is quite difficult to even find out what the uniform or flag looked like.  So I usually give up at some point and just do a uniform that I like, and pick a flag that I like.

As for size, whenever this question comes up in one of the local miniatures groups, they like to position a big 6 ft 2 in (~2m) tall 300 lb guy next to our 5 ft tall 140 lb guy and then ask the question again about whether the size difference in the miniatures matters.  There is a fine group in New Zealand that mixes American War of Independence figures from several manufacturers in the same units, just to get the look of varied humanity. There is a lot of variety of height and bulk in their units.  It looks realistic.
Sailors have more fun!
