Just got my pre-order through as well. Lovely models, and they'll definitely be added to my Colonial Gothic games ASAP.

Glad to hear they've arrived safely. We've never had a shipment go missing yet (hope I'm not tempting fate  :D), but we've had a few take longer than expected.
Cheers,
Lance

Lance,
I received my first order of Rangers and Militia from you guys and as I sent you in my email - they are truly great minis. I immediately ordered more!

Over at my blog - I have some opening packages photos and a size comparison for Galloping and Conquest and North Star FIW.

I have been interested in getting your colonial militia to use as minutemen in 1775-76, my British are Front Rank will they scale ok with them?
I used to be with it, but then they changed what it was. Now what I'm with isn't it anymore and what is it seems weird and scary.

What about the female armed settlers?
Maybe along this lines

but more aged and in a typical 18th C. garb?

(I'm sure a gorgeous version of this one, if probably less 'historical' -but a tricorne would 'label' her '18th C.'- would be a success:

Though a 'Lace Wars Madeleine Jarret de Verchères' (14 old) mini would also be of some use?

I'm afraid you'll judge such minis (though like the previous suggestions with a potential wider market than only the FIW, being of use for many 'adventure' games from pirates to the Beast of Gévaudan, be they purely 'historical' or spiced with some Fantasy elements), even if made 'on foot' only, would be 'too much' for your 'FIW' range? Though they suggest a kind of 'Last of the Mohicans' journey...

Ideally -as was almost the tradition for 'fantasy adventurers' minis in the old 'Dungeons & Dragons' days- each 'character' should be available on foot and riding. Of course you'll not venture sculpting and casting *horses* for the FIW, but maybe you could produce 'riding' minis (and the separate musket in its saddle holder) to be combined with horses bought elsewhere: afaik at least Spencer Smith / Tradition and Minden list 'civilian' horses for both sexes that can be ordered separately?

@The Gray Ghost

Over at Jay's blog he shows this photo for comparison:

Based on that, I think Redoubt and North Star look like good matches and Front Rank okay too. Eureka, Perry, Foundry look smallish. The thing about the GM minis is not so much the height - it is their thickness/heft.

And I would avoid mixing units with Conquest/Warlord though based on my personal experience as you can see at the my blog post:
http://optio82.blogspot.com/2014/03/breaking-down-boxes-fiw-minis-arriving.html

I plan on mixing some AW Minis in with mine and North Star.
Ed

I just grabbed this quote from over at the TMP boards:
Quote
I use Redoubt and Galloping Major with my Northstar figures. They all tend to be large and similarly bulky, but mix almost perfectly. I recently played against my friend who used his own yet-to-be released French regulars and Conquest Indians which look a lot smaller than my figs. However, on the table, they all looked great and I really couldn't see any difference in height and proportion. Therefore, I agree with the OFM!

Great stuff - love your blog posting  8)
Thanks for the further orders  :D

Gray Ghost - You wouldn't be the first to use my FIW Militia and Settlers for AWI militia, take a look at Giles' posting half way through this thread on another forum:

Abdul666lw,

Thanks for the input, some great pictures there, I've saved the ones I didn't already have into a folder, I especially like the character ones from Brotherhood of the Wolf, which I haven't watched for ages, I must try to make time to watch it again.

The armed settler women will be along, and I think you'll like some of the ideas I have.
I fully agree that mounted characters should have a dismounted version, and even though the F&IW is very much an infantry war, the odd mounted/dismounted character will start to appear - and who knows where it will lead  ;)

As for sculpting horses, I've done a couple already - you'll find pictures of one on this page:
http://www.gallopingmajorwargames.com/page4.htm
so no need to use any "strays"  :D

Cheers,
Lance

Females could be useful for Abduction Club settings too.
I thought this film was reasonable:

Gary, Glynis, and Alasdair (there are three of us, but we are too mean to have more than one login)

Yet I'm afraid this one

(from the very swashbuckling Le Scorpion comics) may be, unfortunately, more than a little 'too much'?

Btw I discussed her on a TMP thread devoted to 'Beast of Gevaudan' games and miniatures. Canadian armed settlers are ideal for such games even if located in 'Old' France, and movies such as Le Poil de la Bête (trailer)and Ginger Snaps Back (trailer) show that similar 'adventures' (without or with 'Lacepulp / Lacepunk extras -or worse, even far worse) can bet set in Nouvelle France.
