NEW chaos dwarfs from FW
« on: 13 May 2011, 07:17:58 PM »
Yup, forge-world has released previews of their upcoming chaos dwarfs. Now I remember those buggers were old boxes when I first started warhammer, so they don't mean that much to me. But I think some here might have a stronger feeling towards the unorganized stunties.

Anyhow, they are here in the new stuff section:

Wow, hadn't even looked at that. And were talking pretty samey sculpts here as well, no multiparts or extra bits either.

I'm not a big fan of them, they are "ok" but not as colorful as the old ones and I don't know if it's just how FW assembled them or not but there seem to be a big lack of poses based on those photos.

I like them when compared to the last big hat lot but the pricing is a joke. Glad I still have a load of the first ones.

Yeah...at $6 a piece for rank and file...I think not...I'll stick with the Classic Marauder and citadel sculpts...more character...and a proper model material...Metal!

HOW MUCH!!!!!  :o :o :o

Oh I see, it's a joke... has to be, surely. Ahhh, I get it, they're made from platinum or some other precious metal. Must be for that ridiculous price.

I do actually quite like them but for that price? Pfffft... no chance  lol
...and what fresh new hell is this?

How the hell are they supposed to aim  ???  :?

Also, the scale armour on the rear of some of them isn't finished all that well. For four quid a figure (and resin, to boot) I'd want a better original at least  :?

cheers

Forge World is also notorious for doing a poor casting job, so it's not only expensive resin, it's expensive poorly-made resin. I would much rather invest in the excellent metal Bederken Dwergs, or even the Mantic plastic not-Chaos Dwarves than bother with these.

Phew was worried there for a moment- fortunately they do NOT resemble the rank and file figures I have been working on.  That would have been an ip pain.

These designs are much nicer than those silly hats, but you can pick up a pile of gen 1 perry chaos dwarfs for that price.  If they where plastic kits I would be happy (sisters of battle first please gw).
I won't ever buy forge world again after the rubbish castings I have had for the nurgle dreadnought, champions and terminators.  I spent so long filling bubbles and resculpting missing faces and skulls I could have scratch built it in less time.

I've sourced all my FG through LAF at reasonable prices. I have no complains about the castings, a bit of hot water took care of most of it.

To be honest, there are plenty of better sculpts of dwarves suitable for chaos dwarf units.... and less costly. Those are "ok" sculpts and surely good quality but what the heck are they thinking when they put the price tag on them? Profit margin is more like 70%. Not stupid who asks but if someone buys he must reaaaally bad want those.
