Quick and Dirty Egyptian Terrain

I've been dying to make Some Egyptian terrain after drooling over all the beautiful work here.  

Here is what I came up with:

I don't have the time or patience for Hirst Arts, so after finding an Egyptian toob at MIchael's, I built this terrain in 3 nights!  It's not perfect, but it functions well and looks pretty good.

I cut all the wood pieces and used a burning pen to make the details.  Then I drybrushed brown, orange, yellow and white.  I like that I can arrange the pieces like a temple, or a museum.

Very nice!  Just goes to show how a little creativity and ingenuity can make good terrain for much cheaper costs!  How did you "prep" the plastic to get the effect...?

As I said on Flickr, those look great, especially the plastic Egyptian statuary bits from Michael's. I'll have to take a closer look at those Toobs next time I haunt our local Michael's!

I actually primed the plastic statues with grey primer as it was all I had left.  I then painted them twice with brown paint.  Then the beauty of drybrushing.

I actually sprayed all the wood with clear coat so there would be less grain.
