Campaigne Rulesely Help (no piccies - boring text)
« on: June 29, 2011, 05:10:16 AM »
Hello lot,

I'm going to do a small (well in comparison with those French dudes and their pirate weekend!) weekend thing with a few of my best in June 2012. The idea is for everyone to create a warband of Pirates and use Songs of Blades and blabla rules (not too complicated for beer and rum).

What we wanted to add to it all, was a layer of 'campaign' where the players could 'travel' from table to table in an 'order phase'. I'm not real clever on rules and I don't really know a lot of them.

But I thought to myself, while trying to reinvent the deep saucer, that some of you piratey scoundrels might already know of a campaign idea that suits my needs?

Uncomplicated, 'thin', just-adding-a-narrative-without-the-need-for-a-GM-and-not-bogging-down-everything is kind of what I'm searching for.

Oh well - and yes! I'm mostly doing it all because I've been wanting to paint some pirates! :D

You can see the 'gang' here: http://leadadventureforum.com/index.php?topic=26828.msg366019#msg366019 and maybe understand why I need help. A motley crew indeed!  lol

If your just looking for something that represent movement between location 'off table' then you could try Under the Black Flag by Rattrap which (if memory serves me right) has a campaign system!

Get the boardgame Merchants & Marauders from Z-Man Games. The designers Kasper Aagard and Christian Marcussen are Danes. The boardgame handles up to 4 players, and the rules are quick and easy. There are nice plastic ship miniatures, attractive cards for captains, for missions, for rumours, for events, etc. Ship to ship combat is quick and easy. The boardgame could be adapted for a simple campaign system without a GM, substituting some miniatures rules for parts of the boardgame rules.  You can read reviews and see huge numbers of photos on BoardGameGeek:
