Lovely
If you are into 17th C witchery then keep an eye out for a film called 'A Field In England'.
Very, very odd indeed and not to everybody's tastes I imagine but essentially 4 soldiers in a field with a fairy ring and a black magician.
Atmospheric, beautifully shot but not your standard storyline or treatment.

The film is on Film4 5th  July at 10.45pm

Looking forward to it

ok, may not have been very productive lately, but have been doing things - just not much...

now, need some advice - what would be the best sheet material for doing stone walls on the lower floor of the manor house? looking ahead and thinking of a fortified manor house and the easiest way of having this look right, is to do stone on the lower walls.

I did have some foamboard type stuff from antenociti embossed with a stone pattern (which I used on the ruined tower years ago - http://anevilgiraffe.blogspot.co.uk/2010/02/ruined-tower.html), but they don't seem to do it anymore. Anyone know of a source for this stuff? Or a similar, suitable alternative? want something with a bit more texture and depth than plasticard.

Would walls like this be made from larger blocks or just brick?

I should hopefully have some trees done soon and normal service can resume... especially as I've almost completed Borderlands.

Could be made of either block or brick but have a look here for different styrene sheeting.

I would listen to what James says.

He certainly knows his sheet!

I carved mine from impact sound isolation (or however you call that stuff that keeps the sound of your feet from arriving at the floor below you) foam sheets...  ;D

An example can be found in the lowest pic here: http://basteltisch.blogspot.de/2013/08/some-buildings.html

Visible stone floors in buildings tended to beither made from brick or hewn stone, but those were for the richer homes... other materials (like unhewn stones) were usually plastered. Both varaints (visible and plastered) often used large hewn stone corners that usually were kept visible.

-> conclusion for a lazy and believable solution you just have to do cornerstones and the frames of windows and doors in stone (and maybe carve some stones beneath fallen off plaster for a better look)

Why don't you do like I do with the horse hair dyed brown, with a dash of pva in to stiffen it, drybrush, dip in flock and the cut with a scissor for whatever shape you want?
Damn, this project moves as fast as all my projects. Time to invest in a cupboard (damn you Jimbibbly and kharma!)...

Just discovered (and read through) this project. So far I'm loving it and it actually mirrors a project I was thinking up last night after watching Devil's Whore on 4oD. I'm assuming you've read 2000AD's Defoe? It's a great resource for ECW era skirmishes

hmmm... decorative lace braid/trim for carved wood moldings? the basic theory is sound, but we'll see...

This is looking very promising! Impressive project as well!

I built a tavern for Witchhunter last year or so, but yours is even bigger! Very curious to see how it will turn out.

hopefully the ground floor interior will be done over the weekend, but man, nothing shows up a hinky angle like a load of laser cut square panels...  >:(
