Royal Navy Sloop
« on: July 18, 2011, 08:27:37 PM »
After building a long boat for my LOTHS Royal Navy crew I decided I needed a small ship for them as well.
Drawn a template on some thin card

Used the template to cut out some foam core.

And some extra bits for some height front and back

Balsa wood scored for the deck

Some plastic grid for the cargo hold

Door to the captains cabin

Filled some of the edges with thin card.

Side cut from thin card

Some crew for scale

That's great Colin! :o She's going to be a stonker! I'm afraid mine is just going to be a re-hash of an old boat model, slightly restored.

I like that! Nice and simple instructions, too. I shall pass them on to a friend in my group who wants us all to play pirates. I'm not putting up much resistance!  lol

lovely! The grid is ... a fly-catcher? (Fliegen-Klatsche in German ... according to the sound it does make, when hitting a fly ... cklatsh ^^). Brilliant idea! If it is NOT a fly-catcher ... the idea is mine! Mine! MINE! hahaha

Will follow that one, too!

Hmm pretty oldschool. Here they crackle thanks to the elektrified fly-catcher  >:D
Oh, and they smell rather burned too, if zapped too long.  ::)

Brilliant stuff. ;D
I am amazed at how quickly this project seems to have come together. You have put together a stonking collection of boats, scenery and miniatures in a really short period of time.  :)
Since I started playing LOTHSe earlier this year I have painted ten pirates and not a lot else lol

Thanks guys

The grid is embroidery sheets from a local hobby shop. Useful for loads of things.

Nick it is just the flush of a new project. It will slow down soon. :D
Also when there is two of us doing it there is a fair bit of inspiration to get things done.

Started to add some detail to the cardboard box to try and make it look more like it is supposed too.
Made with bits of wire and card.

I have cut off the skylight above the door to re-do it as I wasn't happy with the original.
Also started on the masts.

Coming around very nicely.

Love the way you fixed up the arse end with the wire.   :-*

Question though, shouldn't the bow point up a bit more  ???

Do you think?
I will see what it looks like when I fit the bow spirit (If thats what you call the long pole sticking out the front).

Some of it is solder you gave me.
The rest is normal wire.
